Support Care Assistant

Forensic Treatment Center - South

St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center provides specialized care for clients diagnosed with mental illness. We are seeking a positive and energetic Support Care Assistant interested in helping individuals with mental illness maximize their potential. This is a first-level, direct patient care position working on inpatient units.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform basic non-professional psychiatric and general nursing work.
2. Establish effective interpersonal relationships with residents, co-workers, and other members of the healthcare team.
3. Contribute to maintaining a therapeutic environment.
4. Render basic nursing care.

Eligibility:

1. Ability to lift 45 lbs vertically from floor to shoulder height.
2. Run, walk, or jog a distance of 400 yards.
3. Pull 45 lbs at least 20 feet.
4. Kneel on the floor to perform CPR.
5. Implement crisis intervention techniques and emergency treatment procedures.
6. Demonstrate strong leadership and team-building abilities.
7. One or more years of work experience or self-employment.
8. Possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
