Job summary

Underbelly Hospitality's J9 Wine Bar in Chicago seeks a friendly, hardworking team member to deliver an exceptional guest experience. You’ll greet guests, help seat tables, and escort charcuterie to tables, representing the wine bar with authentic, warm service.

Maintain clean, safe work areas, stock and reset stations, learn the food menu, and support teammates as needed. Evening and weekend availability is required; Food Handler and Alcohol Awareness certifications are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar or supportive role is preferred.
• Food Handler Certification, Alcohol Awareness Certification.
• Knowledge or ability to learn the restaurant POS system, ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Hardworking, dedicated, with a real passion for hospitality.
• Flexible schedule and must be able to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome wine bar guests.
• Help to host and seat tables when necessary.
• Deliver charcuterie to the tables ensuring that it is delivered promptly.
• Deposit soiled glassware and dishes appropriately in the specified area.
• Empty all trash containers regularly, stock bussing and serving stations.
• Learn and maintain product knowledge of the food menu.
• Maintain restaurant cleanliness, including sweeping or mopping floor using the tools provided.
• Clean and set tables to restaurant standards.
• Pull dirty glasses from tables while guests are still seated.
• Stock bussing stations.
• Clean stations, including sweeping floor using the tools provided.
• Assist other restaurant personnel with tasks when necessary, such as expediting food to tables.
• Attend all company and/or restaurant required trainings and meetings.
• Communicate with other staff and management.
• We are a team at J9 Wine Bar and you may need to take on responsibilities outside of this job at times, as we all do.

What You'll Do

You are hardworking with a real passion for creating a quality experience for all our guests. All functions are carried out to maintain a clean, dry, safe, and fun work environment for you and your coworkers. You love building and maintaining sound working relationships with your coworkers! You'll act as an ambassador for the wine bar and deliver authentic, friendly service to compel repeat visits from our guests.
