Job summary

WVU Medicine is seeking a Supply Chain Technician to ensure proper receipt, storage, and distribution of materials within the hospital. You will input and retrieve data in the materials management system and support PAR level management.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and a valid driver’s license, with preferred data entry experience and 1 year in inventory management or warehouse distribution. This role is on-site at Wheeling, WV, with a 40-hour workweek.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of inventory management or warehouse distribution experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Buyers and Supply Chain leadership to maintain appropriate inventory levels and provide PAR level recommendations.
  • Monitor restocking via supply automation systems and adjust PAR levels as needed.
  • Understand MMIS software and other technical equipment used in materials management.
  • Enter requisitions and fill/ deliver supply requests.
  • Deliver supplies to hospital departments in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist staff with ordering supplies including walk-up and emergency orders.
  • Enter patient charges when applicable.
  • Label supplies with charge stickers when applicable.
  • Follow policies on attire when stocking specialty areas (OR, Sterile Processing).
  • Assist in mailroom duties and daily shipping (FedEx, UPS).
  • Maintain storeroom, answer phones, and ensure complete coverage.
  • Dispose of trash properly and conduct cycle counts regularly.
  • Conduct physical verifications and documentation of received materials.
  • Maintain chain of custody documentation for bone and tissue per TJC standards.
  • Place merchandise and paperwork in proper areas.
  • Address discrepancies in verification processes.
  • Keep dock, storeroom and receiving areas clean and orderly.
  • Operate pallet jacks and carts safely.
  • Maintain good working relationship with coworkers and provide excellent customer service.
  • Assist in courier runs locally and out of state.
  • Restock items and check for expired products on carts.
  • Follow departmental and hospital policies.

The Supply Chain Technician ensures that all materials are received, stored, and distributed in a proper and prudent manner while maintaining complete accountability for inputting and retrieving data in the materials management module.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.   1. Assists and communicates with Buyers and/or Supply Chain leadership to maintain appropriate inventory levels and provides PAR level recommendations as needed.

  2. Maintain an understanding of supply automation system(s) for daily restocking, inventory adjustments, and PAR level management, if applicable.

  3. Maintains an understanding of the Medical Material Information System (MMIS) software and other technical equipment.

  4. Enter (Key), fill, and deliver all supply requisitions.

  5. Deliver supplies throughout the hospital in a timely and accurate manner.

  6. Assist hospital employees with ordering supplies, to include walk-up and emergency orders.

  7. Enter (Key) patient charges (If applicable)

  8. Labelling of supplies with charge stickers if applicable.

  9. Follow departmental polices pertaining to appropriate attire (scrubs, mask, shoe covers, etc.) when stocking specialty areas (e.g. OR and Sterile Processing)

  10. Assist in mailroom functions and duties, including Do shipping on a daily basis (FedEx, UPS, etc.)

  11. Maintain storeroom area, answering the phone and providing complete coverage.

  12. Responsible for disposing all trash properly.

  13. Participate in physical inventories.

  14. Conducts cycle counts on a routine basis to ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained.

  15. Performs verification procedures before accepting any materials from carrier.

  16. Performs physical verification and documentation of material contents received.

  17. Documents the shipment on official records.

  18. Maintains bone and tissue documentation from time of entry to facility for chain of custody per TJC standards.

  19. Place merchandise and paperwork in proper areas.

  20. Handle discrepancies on physical verification process.

  21. Keeps dock, storeroom and receiving areas clean and orderly.

  22. Operate material handling equipment (pallet jack, carts and hand trucks) safely.

  23. Maintain a good working relationship with co-workers and provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.

  24. Assist in courier runs to any and all areas, both in and out of state.

  25. Restock supply items and perform routine checks for expired products on code carts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with safety standards.

  26. Follow departmental and hospital policies.

  9. Ability to organize and prioritize time and tasks to achieve a well-coordinated work effort and to effectively meet work schedules including the ability to integrate multiple factors which may impact patient care.
