Job summary

Nucor DJJ Division is seeking a Supply Chain Strategy Intern for a 10-week summer program. You will join our Brokerage Division, the largest of its kind in North America, and gain hands-on exposure to ferrous and non-ferrous scrap markets, forecasting, and data analysis.

You'll work 40 hours per week, earn a competitive wage, and collaborate with experienced analysts to learn how macroeconomic trends influence commodity pricing while contributing to business process improvements and data-driven

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student pursuing economics, statistics, business analytics, supply chain management, or finance.
• Excellent analytical thinking and Excel proficiency.
• Familiarity with Power BI, Python, SQL, or R is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Brokerage Division to support summer projects in commodities trading.
• Assist with price or volume forecasting and basic statistical analysis.
• Lead a summer-long project to improve a business process or data-driven story.
• Participate in group meetings and tasks as assigned.
• Gain understanding of Nucor's operations and safety practices.
• Collaborate with analysts to learn Commodity markets and macroeconomic trends.

Basic Job Functions:

DJJ is looking for an intern to join our Brokerage Division for the summer.Our Brokerage group is the largest of its kind in North America.We are a commodities trader, Brokering Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Scrap as well as Ferro Alloy Products both domestically and abroad. A DJJ Intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of Commodities Trading. You will gain exposure tothe scrap and steel commodities markets, the macro-economic trends and data analyzed and gain a better understanding of how to utilize analytical tools to forecast specific market scenarios. • Work with experienced analysts to better understand commodity markets and their interaction with macroeconomic trends and data
• Work on assigned projects that can include price or volume forecasting, or basic statistical analysis
• Lead a summer-long project aimed at improving a business process or uncovering a data-driven story that adds measurable value to the organization
• Participate in group meetings tasks as assigned
• Gain an understanding of how Nucor operates as the most vertically integrated steelmaker in the world
• Demonstrates curiosity and initiative, with a willingness to dive into unfamiliar topics, ask thoughtful questions, and persist through challenges to deliver meaningful results.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Undergraduate student who is majoring and/or minoring in economics, statistics, business analytics, supply chain management, or finance
• Possess excellent analytical thinking skills and is proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel.
• Working knowledge and use of Project R, Python, SQL, and/or Microsoft Power BI
