Hanwha Defense USA is seeking a Supply Chain Specialist in Opelika, AL to support material flow, receiving, and inventory control for a 50,000 sq. ft. facility specializing in combat vehicle maintenance, modification, and prototyping.

You will work with technicians, engineers, and leadership to ensure availability of critical parts, manage shipments, and ensure compliance with DoD requirements while driving safety and process improvements.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Manage receiving, inspection, and processing of incoming materials including repair parts, modification kits, prototype components, and government-furnished equipment
  • Maintain accurate inventory using established tracking systems with proper labeling and storage
  • Coordinate issuance, staging, and movement of parts and kits for repair, modification, prototyping, and integration tasks
  • Collaborate with technicians, engineers, and supervisors to forecast material needs to meet timelines
  • Monitor and reconcile inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions
  • Manage shipping operations including packaging, documentation, and transportation in compliance
  • Support logistics planning for prototype builds and engineering change packages
  • Oversee storage and handling of sensitive materials with proper environmental controls
  • Coordinate with procurement to resolve shortages and technical questions
  • Enforce OSHA-compliant safety practices in material handling and drive continuous improvements

Position Summary

Supports supply chain, inventory, and logistics operations within a 50,000 sq. ft. industrial facility specializing in combat vehicle maintenance, modification, and prototyping. Responsible for managing material flow, receiving, inventory control, kit staging, and distribution of repair parts, prototype components, and government‑furnished equipment. Works closely with technicians, engineers, program management, and facility leadership to ensure timely availability of critical materials that enable maintenance, subsystem integration, and engineering development builds. Manages shipment of replacement and spare parts to FSR teams at testing and forward sites as required. Ensures accountability, accurate documentation, and compliance with government regulations, contractual requirements, and internal procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage receiving, inspection, and processing of incoming materials including repair parts, modification kits, prototype components, and government-furnished equipment.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all materials using established tracking systems, ensuring proper documentation, labeling, and storage in accordance with program requirements.
  • Coordinate issuance, staging, and movement of parts and kits to support vehicle repair, modification, prototyping, and subsystem integration tasks.
  • Collaborate with technicians, engineers, and supervisors to forecast material needs and ensure required components are available to meet project timelines and technical milestones.
  • Monitor and reconcile inventory discrepancies, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions to maintain high levels of accuracy and accountability.
  • Manage shipping operations including packaging, documentation, and transportation of components, ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
  • Support logistics planning for prototype builds, engineering change packages, and large‑scale modification efforts, ensuring material readiness aligns with development schedules.
  • Oversee proper storage, handling, and environmental controls for sensitive materials, hazardous items, and specialized subsystems.
  • Coordinate with procurement and suppliers as needed to resolve shortages, delivery issues, and technical questions related to material compatibility or configuration.
  • Enforce OSHA‑compliant safety practices during material handling operations and support continuous improvement initiatives related to logistics workflow, storage optimization, and accountability.

Required Qualifications

  • Technical degree, logistics certification, or equivalent military/industrial training in supply chain, logistics, or inventory management.
  • Experience supporting supply chain or logistics operations in a manufacturing, maintenance, military, or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management systems, material accountability processes, and documentation requirements.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, part lists, engineering change documentation, and kit installation instructions.
  • Hands‑on experience with material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and lifting devices, with a demonstrated commitment to safe operation.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and program personnel in a fast‑paced, requirements‑driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting logistics operations for combat vehicles, military programs, or defense manufacturing environments.
  • Understanding of DoD supply chain practices, controlled item management, and government‑furnished equipment accountability.
  • Experience supporting prototype development, engineering builds, or configuration‑controlled material staging.
  • Advanced ability to manage competing priorities, support program schedules, and implement process improvements within logistics operations.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding material-handling tasks.

Comfortable working around heavy vehicles, prototype hardware, machine tools, and industrial equipment while using proper PPE.
