About the Opportunity: Value Driven Solutions (VDS) is partnering with a leading private equity-backed apparel company specializing in children’s sleepwear and daywear, with annual revenues exceeding $200M. The brand, primarily serving the U.S. market with manufacturing in China and Vietnam, seeks a supply chain and procurement consultant for a remote contract role. The goal is to diversify its material sources by exploring high-quality cotton from new regions, requiring expert guidance.

Job Summary: We seek a consultant with extensive experience in cotton sourcing and procurement category management to provide advisory services. The candidate will help understand cotton types, develop a market map of key vendors and sources, and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations in children’s apparel. The role demands a proactive, results-oriented professional ready to start immediately and deliver actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct analysis of various cotton formulations and sources, focusing on high-quality options for apparel
• Develop a market map identifying key vendors and sourcing regions beyond China and Vietnam
• Provide strategic supply chain and procurement advice, including process optimization and diversification
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations specific to children’s apparel
• Prepare an executive summary and detailed market mapping deliverables
• Collaborate with the client to support strategic goals and operational excellence

Qualifications:

• Essential Experience:
• Hands-on experience sourcing high-quality cotton for apparel, understanding different cotton types
• Proven procurement category management expertise within supply chain
• Knowledge of safety standards and regulations in children’s apparel
• Preferred Experience:
• Background in apparel or textiles, especially children’s apparel
• Sourcing experience outside China, demonstrating global supply chain skills
• Familiarity with private equity-owned company dynamics (nice to have)
• Skills:
• Strong analytical and strategic skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management
• Ability to work independently remotely and meet tight deadlines
