Value Driven Solutions (VDS) is excited to partner with a leading private equity-backed apparel company specializing in children’s sleepwear and daywear, boasting annual revenues exceeding $200M. This e-commerce-focused brand, primarily serving the U.S. market with manufacturing in China and Vietnam, is seeking a highly skilled supply chain and procurement consultant for a remote contract role. The company aims to diversify its material base by exploring high-quality cotton sources from new regions, and we need an expert to guide this strategic initiative.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a consultant with extensive experience in cotton sourcing and procurement category management to provide advisory services. The ideal candidate will help the client understand the differences in cotton types, develop a market map of key vendors and sources, and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements in the children’s apparel sector. This role requires a proactive, results-driven professional ready to engage immediately and deliver actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct in-depth analysis of various cotton formulations and sources, focusing on high-quality options for apparel
• Develop a comprehensive market map identifying key vendors and potential sourcing regions beyond China and Vietnam
• Provide strategic supply chain and procurement advice, including optimizing procurement processes and diversifying the material base
• Ensure adherence to unique safety standards and regulatory requirements pertinent to children’s apparel
• Prepare an executive summary and detailed market mapping deliverables aligned with the project scope
• Collaborate with the client to support their strategic goals and enhance operational excellence
  
  

Qualifications:

• Essential Experience:
• Direct, hands-on experience in sourcing high-quality cotton for apparel, with a strong understanding of different cotton types
• Proven expertise in procurement category management within the supply chain
• Deep knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements in the children’s apparel industry
• Preferred Experience:
• Background in the apparel or textiles industry, with a significant advantage for experience in children’s apparel
• Sourcing experience from regions outside China, demonstrating global supply chain management skills
• Familiarity with private equity-owned company dynamics (nice to have but not required)
• Skills:
• Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment and deliver under tight timelines
