Responsibilities
- Manage daily supply chain operations, including purchasing, receiving, production scheduling, inventory control, logistics, distribution, and order fulfillment.
- Maintain and manage supply chain data within SAP, ensuring the accuracy of material records, purchase orders, inventory information, and production schedules.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, Operations, and Production to maintain efficient order flow and support timely customer fulfillment.
- Manage supplier and vendor relationships, including purchase order placement, lead-time monitoring, delivery performance, quality concerns, and issue resolution.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and purchasing opportunities with suppliers while maintaining quality and delivery requirements.
- Coordinate sourcing activities with offices and sister companies to identify cost-effective material sourcing opportunities.
- Lead biannual cycle counts and maintain inventory accuracy through effective inventory-control practices.
- Monitor inventory levels, forecast material demand, and plan replenishment to minimize shortages, excess inventory, and production disruptions.
- Track domestic and international shipments and coordinate with transportation and logistics partners to support on-time delivery.
- Analyze supply chain performance, identify trends and operational risks, and recommend process improvements that increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
- Support compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
- Develop, document, maintain, and improve supply chain procedures and processes.
- Lead and participate in management-directed supply chain initiatives and continuous-improvement projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, operations, engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in purchasing, materials management, production planning, inventory control, logistics, or broader supply-chain operations.
At least 2 years of experience supervising, leading, or providing day-to-day directions to supply-chain or purchasing personnel.
- Per Bill: NOT REQUIRED, BUT HELPFUL Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial equipment, systems integration, or engineered-to-order environment.
Experience
- Demonstrated hands-on experience managing the complete purchasing cycle, including: Requesting and evaluating supplier quotations.
- Issuing and maintaining purchase orders.
- Monitoring supplier lead times and deliveries.
- Expediting critical materials.
- Resolving pricing, delivery, quality, and invoice discrepancies.
- Working knowledge of production planning, material requirements planning, inventory control, and order fulfillment.
- Experience using SAP to manage material records, purchase orders, inventory transactions, and production or material schedules.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate supplier pricing, commercial terms, lead times, and purchasing agreements.
- Experience in resolving supplier-related quality and delivery issues.
- Experience coordinating domestic and international shipments and working with freight carriers, logistics providers, and customs or import/export documentation.
- Experience conducting physical inventory or cycle counts and investigating inventory discrepancies.
Skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to analyze purchasing, inventory, supplier, and delivery-performance data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across Sales, Finance, Engineering, Production, Operations, and external suppliers.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Willingness and ability to personally handle transactional and administrative supply-chain responsibilities in addition to managing and improving the function.
