Job description

Primus is a growing specialty pharmaceutical company with a bold vision: to serve underserved populations through innovative, patient-centered therapies. We are building a science-driven organization where novel natural food-based Rx products, medical education and thoughtful health policy come together to expand access and improve outcomes.

We are seeking a highly motivated, analytical, and resourceful Supply Chain Manager to play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and reliable flow of our pharmaceutical products from manufacturing through distribution. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a hands-on supply chain professional who thrives on solving problems, building strong partnerships, and making a meaningful impact in a growing organization.

Reporting to the Director of Operations and Regulatory Affairs, the Supply Chain Manager will work closely with pharmaceutical manufacturers, suppliers, distribution partners, freight carriers, and internal teams to optimize inventory, anticipate demand, and ensure product availability. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capabilities with exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.

Position Overview

This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of key supply chain functions within a growing specialty pharmaceutical company where individual contributions are valued and have a direct impact on business success.

The Supply Chain Manager will oversee and optimize essential supply chain activities, including inventory management, procurement, demand forecasting, supplier coordination, transportation, and logistics. This individual will play an important role in maintaining operational efficiency, identifying potential risks, and ensuring the timely availability of products to support our customers and patients.

Unlike positions in large pharmaceutical organizations with extensive automated systems, this role requires someone who is comfortable working in a lean, entrepreneurial environment. With no formal ERP/MRP system currently in place, the successful candidate will leverage strong Excel skills, analytical expertise, and practical problem-solving abilities to maintain accurate tracking, forecasting, and reporting processes.

We are looking for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, takes pride in accuracy, anticipates challenges before they become problems, and embraces the opportunity to improve processes and contribute to the company's continued growth.

Inventory Management
  • Manage company inventory, including inventory levels, availability, aging, lot information, and inventory movement.
  • Maintain accurate manual inventory tracking and calculation systems in the absence of an ERP/MRP system.
  • Reconcile physical inventory across corporate and consignment locations
  • Monitor product expiration dates and identify inventory at risk of expiration or obsolescence.
  • Communicate significant inventory risks to management.
  • Manage procurement of products and related materials based on forecasted demand and inventory requirements.
  • Monitor supplier/manufacturer production schedules, available inventory, allocations, and expected release dates.
  • Determine purchasing quantities and timing using inventory levels, demand forecasts, supplier lead times, minimum order quantities, and historical usage.
  • Identify past-due and at-risk purchase orders and proactively communicate with suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Lead or participate in regular supplier/open-order meetings.
Transportation, Traffic & Logistics
  • Coordinate domestic and international transportation.
  • Monitor shipments from supplier through final delivery.
  • Investigate transportation delays, delivery issues, damages, shortages, and other logistics problems.
Data Collection & Analysis
  • Collect, validate, organize, and analyze supply-chain and operational data.
  • Perform statistical analysis of inventory, demand, purchasing, supplier performance, shipping, and logistics data.
  • Identify trends, inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in supply chain, procurement, inventory management, logistics, demand planning, or pharmaceutical operations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing inventory and procurement processes.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical distribution and applicable supply-chain requirements in a GxP environment.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to develop complex tracking tools, calculations, reports, and analyses.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently identify problems, analyze root causes, and implement practical solutions.
