The Supply Chain Planning Manager will be responsible for leading supply and demand planning, production scheduling, inventory optimization, supplier coordination, and supply chain improvement initiatives within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role will manage the Master Production Schedule, support the S&OP process, and work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Procurement, Quality, and Plant Management to ensure products are produced and delivered efficiently and on time.
The Supply Chain Planning Manager will also lead strategic supply chain projects, monitor key performance indicators, identify operational risks, and implement continuous improvement initiatives that reduce cost, waste, inventory, and cycle time while improving service levels and operational responsiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Supply & Demand Planning
- Support the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process by aligning demand forecasts with production, inventory, and capacity plans.
- Develop and maintain short-term and long-term production plans.
- Optimize inventory levels for raw materials, packaging, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods while balancing customer service and working capital requirements.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations to improve forecast accuracy and effectively manage demand variability.
- Identify potential supply and capacity constraints and develop appropriate mitigation plans.
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Own and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) across multiple production lines and SKUs.
- Develop production schedules that optimize capacity, minimize changeovers, downtime, and waste.
- Monitor daily production performance and adjust schedules based on demand changes, material availability, labor, and equipment constraints.
- Collaborate with Plant Management, Quality, Maintenance, Procurement, and Operations to ensure production plans are executed effectively.
- Communicate schedule changes and potential production impacts to appropriate stakeholders.
Project Management
- Lead supply chain and operational projects from planning through implementation.
- Support new customer and product introductions.
- Coordinate production line expansions and capacity enhancement projects.
- Lead process optimization and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Establish project timelines, milestones, deliverables, and performance measures.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with overall business objectives.
- Partner with Sourcing and Procurement teams to ensure the timely availability of ingredients, packaging materials, and co-packing capacity.
- Support supplier performance management related to service, quality, lead times, and reliability.
- Monitor critical material requirements and identify potential supply disruptions.
- Develop mitigation and contingency plans for critical materials and supply risks.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve material availability issues that could impact production.
Performance Management & Continuous Improvement
- Define, monitor, and report key supply chain performance indicators, including:
- Inventory turns
- Schedule adherence
- Forecast accuracy
- Supply availability
- Analyze performance data to identify trends, constraints, and improvement opportunities.
- Implement initiatives to reduce cost, waste, inventory, and cycle time.
- Improve operational responsiveness, planning accuracy, and overall supply chain efficiency.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
Systems & Data Management
- Utilize ERP and production planning systems to support planning, execution, inventory management, and reporting.
- Work with systems such as NetSuite and Parity Factory to maintain accurate planning and production data.
- Analyze large datasets to support production, inventory, demand, and supply chain decisions.
- Ensure planning information and system data are accurate, timely, and reliable.
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and analytical tools as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Business, or a related field is required.
- 2+ years of leadership or management experience.
- Strong background in production planning, production scheduling, supply chain management, and project management.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably a high-volume operation.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of inventory management, demand planning, production capacity, and scheduling principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across multiple departments and influence cross-functional teams.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with ERP and production planning systems; NetSuite and/or Parity Factory experience is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with employees at all organizational levels.
