We are partnering with an established electronics manufacturing organization in the Frederick, MD area for a hands-on Supply Chain & Materials Manager to lead purchasing, inventory planning, and supplier management. This role oversees a cross-functional team and ensures materials are available to meet production while avoiding excess inventory.

The ideal candidate combines electronics manufacturing knowledge, purchasing expertise, inventory control, supplier negotiation, and people leadership.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in supply chain, purchasing, or procurement in manufacturing.
  • Experience in contract electronics manufacturing and leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of PCBs and electronic components.
  • Advanced Excel and large data handling abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team supporting purchasing, materials, production planning, quoting, and related supply chain functions.
  • Set performance goals and provide coaching for the department.
  • Develop inventory strategies to support production while reducing excess.
  • Improve inventory turns and material utilization.
  • Manage sourcing and procurement of PCBs, electronic components, and production materials.
  • Identify and qualify new suppliers to improve pricing, availability, lead times, and quality.
  • Own supplier relationships and negotiate pricing, terms, delivery, and service.
  • Monitor supplier performance across cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to translate demand into purchasing requirements.
  • Use forecasting to anticipate component requirements.
  • Evaluate supply chain risks and communicate disruptions to leadership.
  • Provide supply chain and inventory metrics for decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve receiving and inventory processes.
  • Ensure purchasing and materials follow established requirements.
  • Support compliance activities in regulated manufacturing environments.

Supply Chain & Materials Manager – Electronics Manufacturing

Location: Frederick, MD area

Compensation: $110,000–$140,000

Employment Type: Full-Time

The Opportunity

We are partnering with an established manufacturing organization in the Frederick, MD area seeking an experienced Supply Chain & Materials Manager to lead purchasing, inventory, materials planning, and supplier management activities.

This is a hands‑on leadership position supporting a complex electronics manufacturing environment. The person hired will oversee a cross‑functional team while ensuring materials and electronic components are available to meet production requirements without carrying unnecessary inventory.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of electronics/contract manufacturing knowledge, purchasing expertise, inventory management, supplier negotiation, and people leadership.

What You'll Be Responsible For
  • Lead and develop a team supporting purchasing, materials, production planning, quoting, and related supply chain functions.
  • Establish performance goals and measurable expectations for the department while providing ongoing coaching and professional development.
  • Develop inventory strategies that support production requirements while reducing excess and slow‑moving material.
  • Improve inventory turns and overall material utilization.
  • Manage the sourcing and procurement of PCBs, electronic components, and other production materials.
  • Identify and qualify new supply sources to improve pricing, availability, lead times, quality, and overall supply continuity.
  • Own key supplier relationships and conduct negotiations around pricing, terms, delivery, and service expectations.
  • Monitor supplier performance across cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Work closely with internal program and operations teams to translate customer demand into purchasing and material requirements.
  • Use forecasting and planning information to anticipate component requirements and potential shortages.
  • Evaluate supply chain risks and communicate potential disruptions or market changes to leadership.
  • Provide meaningful supply chain and inventory metrics to support operational decision‑making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve receiving, inventory control, material movement, and other supply chain processes.
  • Ensure purchasing and materials activities follow established organizational and customer requirements.
  • Support supply‑chain compliance activities associated with regulated manufacturing environments.
What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of relevant supply chain, purchasing, materials, or procurement experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience within contract manufacturing or electronics manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic board‑level components is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience supervising or managing employees.
  • Demonstrated experience with strategic purchasing, inventory control, MRP/material planning, logistics, forecasting, and supplier negotiations.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP, MRP, inventory, or supply chain management systems.
  • Advanced Excel skills and the ability to work effectively with large amounts of purchasing and inventory data.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier‑management capabilities.
  • Ability to balance material availability, lead times, cost, and inventory levels in a production‑driven environment.
  • Strong communication, organization, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
Ideal Candidate Background

The strongest candidates will have managed supply chain or materials functions in an environment where component availability directly impacts production schedules.

Experience purchasing or managing inventory for PCBs, PCBAs, semiconductors, connectors, electromechanical components, or other board‑level electronic components would translate particularly well to this position.

Candidates coming from EMS, contract electronics manufacturing, aerospace/defense electronics, industrial electronics, or other complex manufacturing environments are especially relevant.

Compensation: $110,000–$140,000

Location: Frederick, MD area

Schedule: Full-Time
