Job summary

Accuride Corporation in Erie, PA is seeking a Supply Chain Manager to design and optimize purchasing, logistics, and inventory processes for the facility. You will act as a liaison between corporate and site operations to implement effective material management, supplier agreements, and CI cost savings initiatives.

Qualifications

  • BS in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Operations Management required.
  • Professional certification in CPIM or CPSM is desirable.
  • Strong purchasing, materials management/scheduling, and customer service background required.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Prior supervisory experience is desired.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; negotiating experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications; ERP knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops a site Master Schedule plan; coordinate and monitor all sourced requirements.
  • Coordinate production schedules to meet customer requirements and maintain quality control.
  • Evaluate planning data; improve inventory accuracy and shipping scheduling.
  • Analyze inventory and schedules; report metrics and maintain tracking methods.
  • Investigate deviations and take corrective actions to control costs.
  • Assist with inventory control to meet customer needs.
  • Utilize Lean concepts to optimize inventory and reduce WIP.
  • Review customer orders for valid delivery dates and adjust schedules as needed.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Engineering to improve processes and reduce costs.
  • Ensure on-time supplier delivery and correct material quantities.
  • Oversee facility inventory auditing, reporting, and reconciliation.
  • Support operations by coordinating schedules to meet requirements.
  • Optimize Plex Inventory Management System usage to meet demand.
  • Monitor market/production needs and adjust schedules accordingly.

Job description

Basic Purpose

This position has the following responsibilities: design or improve upon all purchasing, logistics and inventory management processes for the assigned facility. The Supply Chain Manager acts as a conduit between corporate and the operations facility to implement inventory management and purchasing programs. Work with corporate and operations personnel to establish supply agreements for raw material, scrap material, direct material components and indirect material, including MRO. Accountability to achieve on‑time customer and supplier deliveries, inventory levels of raw material, WIP and finished goods and plan levels, and supplier quality (PPM) performance. Assure the uninterrupted availability of goods and services and freight movement throughout the business cycle to assure our competitive position in the marketplace. Implement programs to achieve CI cost savings initiatives. Plan and programs must be strategically, operationally, and tactically aligned with business drivers, performance objectives and change management initiatives.

Principal Accountabilities
  1. Develops a site Master Schedule plan; implement, coordinate, and monitor all sourced requirements.
  2. Coordinates production schedules to meet external/internal customer requirements and maintain product quality control standards.
  3. Evaluates production planning reporting systems and ensure accuracy and timeliness of data reported; implements processes to improve inventory accuracy and shipping scheduling.
  4. Analyzes inventory and production schedules and develops ways to continuously improve individual and functional performance; collects data, prepares metric reports, controls and maintains spread sheets and other tracking methods as required.
  5. Investigates and analyses schedule deviations and related costs, taking appropriate corrective actions as needed.
  6. Assists with inventory control; ensures adequate inventory levels are maintained to meet customer requirements.
  7. Utilize Lean Manufacturing concepts to maintain optimum inventory levels, improve product flow and reduce Work In Process (WIP).
  8. Review and approve customer orders to ensure assigned delivery dates are valid and realistic; monitor and recommend schedule adjustments to respond to market/production requirements.
  9. Work with Quality and Engineering groups to develop mechanisms that will improve quality, provide accurate schedules, standardize processes and reduce costs.
  10. Ensure supplier on‑time delivery and receipt of the proper quantity and quality of materials driven by master Production Schedule.
  11. Oversees the facility inventory auditing, reporting and reconciliation process to ensure accurate knowledge of product availability.
  12. Supports Operations by coordinating production schedules to meet customer requirements and maintain quality control standards.
  13. Optimizes the utilization of the Inventory Management Systems (Plex) within the facility; ensure adequate inventory levels are maintained to meet customer requirements.
  14. Monitor and recommend schedule adjustments to respond to market/production requirements.
Required Skills, Education, and Experience
  • BS in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Operations Management required
  • Professional certification in Materials Management (CPIM) or Supply Management (CPSM) is desirable.

  • Preferred experience with process flow management (Lean) and ability to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex assignments required. Have thorough understanding of US Custom compliance and C-TPAT regulations
  • Provide leadership in logistics; act as a change manager who drives measurable change that improves productivity, safety or delivery metrics.
  • Working experience with ERP systems preferred; demonstrates high learning agility
  • Program management skills are desired and will be required to perform the role.
