Job summary

Grimco, Inc. is seeking a motivated Supply Chain Intern to support initiatives that improve efficiency and customer service at our Sunset Hills, MO office, with time at the Owensville plant.

You will work with leadership to analyze practices, research best practices, and develop actionable recommendations for our manufacturing and distribution network. You will analyze inventory, support production planning, and evaluate systems to standardize and automate processes, contributing to OTIF

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Excel, pivot tables, data analysis and modeling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work independently.
  • Experience or coursework in inventory management, production planning, or operations research is a plus.
  • Exposure to distribution networks, Lean, or Six Sigma is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze finished goods and raw material inventory across locations to inform inventory placement and costs.
  • Document and improve production planning processes; identify inefficiencies in manual workflows.
  • Research and evaluate production planning systems and software for standardization and automation.
  • Develop practical recommendations and a longer‑term roadmap; present findings to leadership.
  • Use data analysis to assess supply chain performance and support OTIF improvements.

Job Description

Grimco is seeking a motivated and analytical Supply Chain Intern to support strategic initiatives that directly impact operational efficiency and customer service. Based primarily at our Sunset Hills, Missouri corporate office, with some time at our Owensville manufacturing plant, you will work with supply chain leadership and plant operations to analyze current practices, research best practices, and develop actionable recommendations for Grimco's manufacturing and distribution network.

  • Analyze finished goods and raw‑material inventory across manufacturing locations and distribution hubs to support recommendations on inventory placement, service levels, carrying costs, freight expense, and inventory turns.
  • Document current production‑planning processes across Grimco manufacturing plants, identify inefficiencies in manual processes, and research relevant best practices.
  • Research and evaluate production‑planning systems and software solutions, including opportunities for standardization, automation, and improved schedule visibility.
  • Develop practical recommendations, including quick‑win improvements and a longer‑term roadmap to optimize manufacturing runs and production planning, and present findings to supply chain and plant leadership.
  • Use data analysis and modeling to evaluate supply chain performance and support decisions that can improve OTIF delivery, reduce inventory investment, and strengthen operational efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, data analysis, and modeling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
  • Coursework or experience in inventory management, production planning, or operations research is preferred; familiarity with ERP systems or production‑planning software is a plus.
  • Exposure to data visualization tools, distribution‑network optimization, Lean manufacturing, or Six Sigma principles is preferred.
