Job summary

OPmobility is seeking a Supply Chain Engineer to drive new product launches and optimize logistics, packaging, and cost estimation across plants and development teams.

You will partner with Purchasing, IE, Manufacturing, and IT to standardize processes, improve inventory and material flow, and ensure effective use of SAP and related systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (SCM, Logistics, IE, Business or Purchasing).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain planning, transportation, or materials management.
  • Experience managing external logistics flows in manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel for data analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead advanced supply chain planning activities for new product launches.
  • Develop logistics and packaging cost estimates and RFQ support from sourcing through SOP.
  • Act as SME for PFEP, Supply Chain Estimator, and CPF tooling.
  • Set and monitor logistics investment targets for development programs.
  • Maintain and improve regional/global supply chain procedures and work instructions.
  • Collaborate with ISS to translate business requirements into tech solutions.
  • Own the Day in the Life process matrix and drive standardization of plant routines.
  • Develop and deliver training on supply chain processes and tools.
  • Ensure SAP and other systems compliance while streamlining processes.
  • Support plants with system-related challenges and drive continuous improvement.

Supply Chain Engineer - Battery

Location: Troy,MI

Position Summary

The Supply Chain Engineer plays a critical role in supporting new program launches and driving supply chain excellence across manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for advanced supply chain planning, logistics and packaging optimization, cost estimation, process standardization, and systems support. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Purchasing, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Plants, Operational Excellence, and Information Systems teams to develop efficient, cost-effective, and scalable supply chain solutions that support business growth and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead advanced supply chain planning activities for new product launches in partnership with Program Purchasing, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, and Operational Excellence teams.
  • Develop logistics and packaging cost estimates and provide RFQ support throughout the program development lifecycle, from sourcing through SOP.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for supply chain planning tools, including:
    • Plan for Every Part (PFEP)
    • Supply Chain Estimator
    • Component Packaging Form (CPF)
  • Establish and monitor logistics and packaging investment targets for development programs, ensuring alignment with project objectives and financial expectations.
  • Maintain and continuously improve regional and global supply chain procedures, standards, and work instructions.
  • Partner with Information Systems (ISS) as the key user representative to prioritize system enhancements and ensure business requirements are effectively translated into technology solutions.
  • Own and maintain the "Day in the Life" process matrix, driving standardization of plant supply chain routines and best practices.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on supply chain processes, systems, and tools for both plant and development teams.
  • Ensure compliance with SAP, INGOAL, and other supply chain systems while identifying opportunities to streamline processes and eliminate waste.
  • Provide support to manufacturing plants regarding supply chain systems, process execution, and operational challenges.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance inventory management, material flow, logistics performance, and overall supply chain efficiency.
  • Support plant KPI achievement by providing coaching, training, and hands-on assistance related to supply chain performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimize transportation, warehousing, packaging, and material flow strategies.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business, Purchasing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain planning, transportation, or materials management.
  • Experience managing external logistics flows and supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience working with third-party logistics providers (3PLs).
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship requirements.
Preferred
  • Automotive manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, including:
    • Pull Systems
    • Kanban
    • Heijunka
  • Experience supporting new program launches and APQP environments.
  • Import/export compliance and customs knowledge.
  • Understanding of CTPAT certification requirements.
  • Experience with packaging development and optimization.
  • Proficiency in a second language is a plus.
