Overview
Supply Chain Coordinator - Transportation Operations - Multiple Daytime Shifts (Hybrid) at ARMADA Supply Chain Solutions. This role involves arranging, tracking, and communicating the status of transportation for customer goods on pickups and deliveries, including outbound from suppliers and HUB locations, inbound to Armada’s redistribution facilities, customer distribution centers, and manufacturing centers. Utilize Armada’s Transportation Management System (TMS) and preferred carriers to optimize service, secure capacity, and optimize mode of transportation.
Note: Location and hybrid work arrangements are in place while the company relocates to 2000 Innovation Drive, Wexford PA 15090; hybrid employees will continue working from RIDC – O’Hara until relocation is complete.
Responsibilities
- Assign and tender shipments to Armada’s preferred carriers using the Transportation Management System (TMS) to optimize service, capacity, and cost. Coordinate dedicated and continuous move tenders as appropriate. Manually tender loads not accepted through the TMS by contacting carriers to secure capacity.
- Monitor shipments to ensure on-time pickup using the TMS; proactively follow up to secure desired service results and communicate issues to all parties.
- Utilize 24TRACC to access Loads at Risk and carrier websites to identify loads late for pickup and delivery.
- Coordinate first-response activity to resolve pickup and in-transit issues; escalate as required to the appropriate manager or senior staff.
- Assist carriers in resolving issues regarding loading and pickup appointments and communicate to relevant parties.
- Coordinate carrier or supplier date change requests.
- Support shipping/receiving locations with carrier issues, trailer pool coordination, rush shipments, and problem resolution; escalate chronic issues as needed.
- Document issues and resolutions in TMS to create a timeline for future reference.
- Manage MercuryGate (TMS) notifications and network e-mail communications.
- Work within weekend rotation and rotate into other shifts as needed.
- Manually enter orders into the TMS when applicable.
- Manage Pending Orders for assigned region/suppliers and handle carrier rate reviews as needed.
- Analyze shipping processes for improvements and support implementation plans to enhance productivity; develop and manage supplier relationships.
- Analyze carrier routing guide and capacity utilization to optimize system parameters for cost savings and service levels; foster carrier relationships.
- Manage Transportation Planning Tool (TPT) to consolidate LTL shipments into truckloads, improving transit times and service while reducing transportation costs.
- Coordinate return disposition of refused/returned goods as required.
- Maintain effective communications with shipping locations and carriers via phone and e-mail.
- Become proficient in all Operational Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
- Escalate issues that require placement on a Watch List when necessary.

Qualifications
Education And Experience
- Minimum: 1-5 years of experience in customer service or transportation operations; related experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Supply Chain, or Logistics preferred.
Experience
- Customer service or transportation experience with modes such as LTL, Intermodal, temperature-controlled, and dry truckload preferred.
Language And Technical Skills
- General understanding of business and transportation terms and concepts.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel; Access, TMS applications preferred.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication with internal/external clients.
