Position Summary
This position coordinates the day-to-day operation of the supply chain, supporting the perioperative surgical department and peripheral departments. Responsibilities include expediting and processing purchase requisitions and orders, interacting with Material Services and other hospital support areas, handling material and stock distribution, updating information systems, and managing routine equipment repairs.
Essential Duties
- Process requisitions ensuring user needs are met via EDI, fax, telephone, or in person with suppliers.
- Coordinate deliveries with receivers for timely arrival.
- Arrange with suppliers for competitively priced products and substitute/alternative products as needed.
- Follow up on open and overdue orders daily, maintaining current reports.
- Handle product, service, and equipment requests, locate sources, and process repairs.
- Meet with sales representatives to ensure timely delivery for surgical deadlines.
- Distribute stock from inventory locations supporting surgical procedures.
- Coordinate replenishment of OR inventory via internal or external procurement.
- Fill requests based on priority, including STAT requests.
- Work with OR personnel to maintain stock levels and notify of stock-outs.
- Process incoming stock, secure items, rotate stock, and maintain sterile handling procedures.
- Maintain medical equipment, coordinate repairs, and ensure proper documentation.
- Arrange for loaner equipment and maintain a clean, organized area.
- Update inventory information in management and OR systems, maintain templates, reports, and perform system testing.
- Understand and relate Material Management applications with other hospital systems.
- Update management on project statuses and activities.
- Provide excellent customer service, maintaining professionalism and a helpful demeanor.
- Assist individuals proactively, resolve service issues, and promote a respectful, professional environment.
- Demonstrate commitment through punctuality and attendance.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in supply chain or inventory control.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to operate a 24' box truck safely and effectively.
- Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Basic computer skills.
- Valid Maine Driver's License.
- Ability to engage patients and team members per CMH standards.
