Job description

Job Description:

The employee must be willing and able to learn the operation of forklift trucks. The incumbent will learn how to unload waste paper bales from trucks and railroad cars and how to stack waste paper in the warehouse. Additionally, they will learn how to load paper rolls onto trucks and railcars and how to store these rolls in the finished paper warehouse. Maintaining good housekeeping in the warehouses is also part of the role.

Job Procedures and Requirements:
  1. Know and practice all applicable plant and department safety rules, including all job safety analysis (JSA's).
  2. Follow lock-out and operating procedures as set forth in the Plants Operating Manual and JSA's.
  3. Immediately report unsafe conditions or defective equipment to your supervisor.
  4. Report all accidents to your supervisor.
  5. Keep your assigned areas and work tools clean and orderly at all times.
  6. Maintain satisfactory housekeeping standards at your workstation.
  7. Be able to read, write, use a computer, and read a tape measure.
  8. Learn to operate the plant's forklifts and clamp trucks safely; a valid driver's license is required.
  9. Perform all other duties as instructed by the Loading/Unloading Supervisor and the Supply Chain Manager.
Essential Requirements:
  1. Safely handle and dispose of broken bands and bale wires; cut wires protruding from bales.
  2. Clean and sweep the warehouse and docks.
  3. Learn basic driving skills for forklift and clamp truck operation.
  4. Assist in entering paper roll and waste paper data into computers.
  5. Help load and unload trucks and railcars.
  6. Learn the various grades of waste paper and finished paper rolls.
  7. Understand the contaminants in waste paper.
  8. Be available to work on 2nd shift.
  9. Maintain good attendance and performance, with no significant infractions in the past 36 months.

Rate of pay may be adjusted based on qualifications and experience.
