SMSI is looking for a Supplier Quality Representative to support work at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). This is a full-time position with a flexible work schedule.

This role is remote and can be located anywhere in the U.S., but will require extensive weekly travel to the supplier site. Must be able to be onsite Monday through Friday with travel home on weekends. Possible site locations include Ogden, UT; Denver, CO; or Blackfoot, ID.

Job Summary:

Provides Supplier Quality Surveillance at assigned supplier shops, following management instructions, project procedures, and Corporate Procurement Procedures. Ensures effective surveillance inspection services and performs supplier surveys to assess organizational effectiveness.

Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain relationships with Project Management, Engineering, Construction, Project Controls, and Procurement to ensure mutual understanding and achievement of objectives.
  2. Coordinate with inspection agencies to ensure their services conform to standards.
  3. Collaborate with supplier management to resolve quality issues identified through surveillance and audits, recommending corrective actions.
  4. Plan, coordinate, and implement supplier quality surveillance activities; analyze and improve surveillance systems as needed.
  5. Follow guidance from the Project Supplier Quality Lead, adhering to project and supplier quality procedures.
  6. Review project schedules, perform detailed surveillance points, and monitor progress to ensure material quality standards are met, including impact analysis of schedule revisions.
  7. Work with project SQ, Quality Management, Procurement, Expediting, and Engineers.
  8. Monitor supplier operations to ensure compliance with technical quality requirements.
  9. Ensure adherence to Government property control provisions and implement related requirements.
  10. Review and report on Supplier Quality assurance programs and communicate issues to project personnel.
  11. Exercise authority alongside Project Supplier Quality to require corrective actions for defective work.
  12. Report after each supplier visit regarding performance.
Requirements:
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with NQA-1 work for DOE or Nuclear projects.
  • At least 6,000 hours of Inspection experience (SQR).
  • Knowledge of policies, directives, management instructions, and Procurement procedures.
  • Experience with surveillance and inspection techniques.
  • Training in Quality, Procurement, Engineering, and process improvement, including legal aspects of procurement.
  • Knowledge of major supplier equipment and materials.
  • Level II Supplier Quality/Inspection certifications for Mechanical or Electrical NDE; minimum 8,000 hours of method experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of ISO, ANSI, 10CFR50, and NQA-1 quality management standards.
  • Understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations and applicable agency supplements.
  • Experience with Government property control and contractual clauses.
  • Knowledge of Field Engineering, Construction activities, and materials management procedures.
Educational Requirements:
  • High school diploma.
Travel:

This position requires extensive travel to and from the office and supplier shops, depending on location.
