Qualifications

Position Overview
We are adding a Project Supplier Quality Lead (or Manager, depending on experience) to our Kiewit Supply Network in Lenexa, Kansas. You will support projects across various market areas, ensuring suppliers develop and implement best practices emphasizing defect prevention, waste reduction, continuous improvement, and compliance with codes, standards, and client requirements. You will serve as the key contact for supplier quality, liaising with fabrication sites, project teams, engineering, and procurement. Candidates with a background in construction, heavy equipment manufacturing, or experience as a Field Engineer or Superintendent are encouraged to apply.

Kiewit Supply Network provides comprehensive procurement services across multiple markets, aiming to deliver quality, schedule, and cost efficiency aligned with client expectations.

Location
This position is based at the Lenexa, KS District Office or our Houston Regional Office.

Responsibilities

  1. Create and manage project-specific supplier quality plans.
  2. Review and approve supplier quality documents, including Quality plans, ITPs, WPS, PQRs, WPQ, MTRs, coating procedures, etc., ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
  3. Review and approve manufacturing records and deviation requests.
  4. Prepare project-specific documents such as Quality Master Inspection Test Plans, estimates, and checklists.
  5. Coordinate inspections with suppliers, clients, and third-party inspectors.
  6. Act as the lead supplier quality representative on projects, liaising with clients and project teams.
  7. Inspect or support inspectors to ensure compliance of pressure vessels, equipment, piping, and fabrications.
  8. Manage budgets, inspectors, engineers, and third-party resources.
  9. Ensure client quality requirements are met.
  10. Educate project teams on supplier quality programs.
  11. Interface with clients and internal teams as needed.
  12. Track and resolve supplier nonconformities and quality issues.
  13. Perform supplier audits and ensure alignment of inspection activities.
  14. Undertake training and maintain necessary certifications.
  15. Travel as required to project sites, suppliers, and Kiewit locations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quality, or similar + 5+ years of related Supplier Quality experience, or Associates Degree + 10 years of SQM experience.
  • Experience reviewing Inspection and Test Plans from suppliers.
  • Knowledge of NDE, welding, ASME codes, and coatings.
  • Experience in construction of oil/gas/chemical, power, water/wastewater, or industrial facilities, or heavy manufacturing.
  • Ability to interpret fabrication drawings.
  • Knowledge of industry standards (NACE, ASME, AWS, ISO).
  • Ability to travel up to 25% across North America.

  • Certifications such as CWI, CSWIP, NACE CIP Level 2, or similar.
