Position Overview

As a Senior Quality Manager in Supplier Quality Surveillance (SQS), you will lead a team of SQS Inspectors across multiple markets, districts, and projects with minimal supervision. Your responsibilities include recruiting and developing inspectors, evaluating fabrication procedures and products against specifications, standards, and datasheets, and performing inspections as needed. You will coordinate with Project SQS Managers to assign inspectors and support the supplier quality surveillance plan, and work with third-party agencies to meet inspection demands.

District Overview

Kiewit Supply Network provides comprehensive procurement services to clients in construction and engineering sectors, including transportation, water/wastewater, power, oil, gas, chemical, building, and mining industries. Our goal is to offer world-class service ensuring equipment, materials, and services are accurately estimated, procured at competitive prices, and delivered on schedule.

Location

This position is based in Lenexa, KS or Houston, TX offices.

Responsibilities

  1. Maintain effective communication with district management, project teams, inspectors, and clients.
  2. Recruit, hire, train, mentor, and supervise quality control personnel.
  3. Coordinate staffing needs and share resources across districts.
  4. Assist in setting up project quality departments, ITPs, checklists, and documentation.
  5. Create project-specific checklists for inspections and tests.
  6. Support and lead the disposition of shop findings with suppliers and project teams.
  7. Oversee code compliance under the ASME Quality Control Manual.
  8. Research and interpret construction codes and standards.
  9. Ensure proper completion and submission of all project quality records.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Welding, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management (preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in construction or procurement quality management in infrastructure, EPC, OGC, or power industries.
  • Knowledge of ASME Codes, API, NACE, ASTM Standards.
  • Certifications from AWS, CWB, API, ACI, ICBO, ASNT, NACE, etc. (highly preferred).
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes for power, industrial, and oil & gas equipment.
  • Experience reviewing supplier quality documents, inspection/test plans, welding procedures, coating, NDE, and data books.
  • Ability to travel up to 90% domestically and internationally.
  • Strong math, computer, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to access all points of a construction site in various climates.
