The Supplier Quality Inspector plays a key role in assessing the quality of machinery and parts manufactured by our vendors. This person is experienced with various materials testing methods and travels to supplier locations to conduct inspections. Although based in Charlotte, NC, the role involves significant travel.
The core responsibilities include:
- Inspect parts, assemblies, and finished products according to contract and company specifications, including visual, dimensional, mechanical, electrical, and functional tests.
- Represent ANDRITZ Hydro’s interests and communicate professionally with clients and vendors.
- Maintain quality records and inspection reports.
- Investigate and document root causes of non-conformances.
- Collaborate on problem solving with vendors, engineering, project management, and customers.
- Develop and witness NDT techniques and procedures.
- Apply Supplier Quality Engineering methodologies and NDT knowledge for design reviews, failure analysis, and quality plans.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and subcontractors.
- Perform physical duties including sitting, standing, walking, reaching, climbing, and stooping.
- Write Inspection and Test Plans.
- Participate in root cause analysis and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Accept or reject testing results and work items.
- Create inspection plans within project budgets.
- Verify features of components through measurement.
- Travel up to 90% as required for inspections.
Candidate Profile:
Successful candidates share objectives and values, possess strong motivation, a positive attitude, and teamwork skills. They should thrive in complex, fast-paced environments with evolving priorities and demonstrate perseverance over long project durations.
The ideal candidate has:
- A BS degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or materials science)
- At least 5 years of experience in hydropower or industrial construction
- Technical experience with NDT/NDE methods
Or:
- An Associate Degree or equivalent from a technical college
- 5+ years of relevant experience, with CWI certification or equivalent qualifications
- Knowledge of ASME, AWS, CSA, ISO codes
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings
- Proficiency with measurement equipment and MS Office
- Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds
