Position Overview

We seek a Principal Supplier Quality Engineer experienced in manufacturing, inspection, and acceptance of high-reliability electronics assemblies. The role involves implementing tools and processes to ensure suppliers deliver first-time quality, with familiarity in IPC standards (IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, IPC J-STD-002). Responsibilities include investigating quality issues, conducting audits, analyzing defect trends, leading continuous improvement projects, and verifying supplier capabilities through assessments and audits. The role requires travel (~50%) to supplier sites and effective communication skills to ensure compliance and improvement.

This position reports to the Electronics Category Supplier Quality Manager and is full-time remote.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use supplier scorecards and metrics to evaluate performance and develop improvement plans.
  • Assess the impact of nonconforming products and oversee corrective actions.
  • Lead problem-solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers.
  • Perform source inspections and First Article Inspections per AS9102 standards, training suppliers as needed.
  • Promote a "Zero Defect" mindset within the supply base.
  • Participate in strategic sourcing and technical meetings.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience in a Supplier Quality Engineering role within aerospace or defense electronics.
  • Knowledge of AS9100, AS9102C, AS9145, and source inspection processes.
  • Experience with electrical/mechanical inspections, testing, and instrumentation.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain logistics.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate ideas and findings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience in product validation, testing, and manufacturing of electronic products, especially PCBA/PWB.
  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610 certification and related inspection/test equipment.
  • Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Green or Black Belt certification preferred.
  • Eligibility for security clearance from the Department of Defense.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $115,779 - $196,825, based on market data, skills, and experience.
