Job summary

Lyten is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to drive quality assurance across the direct material supply base. You will own supplier nonconformances and lead root-cause investigations, working with internal teams and external partners.

Your role will require strong QMS knowledge (ISO 9001/AS9100/IATF16949), PPAP experience, and the ability to travel ~20% domestically and internationally to ensure materials meet strict standards.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in engineering or related field with 1+ years of related experience OR Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of related experience.
  • Hands-on experience implementing PPAP and qualifying suppliers in a mass production environment.
  • Strong project management and communication skills to align internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deep familiarity with QMS frameworks (ISO9001, AS9100, or IATF16949) and quality tools such as 8D, SPC, and FMEA.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally on average 20% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Run point on supplier quality performance in a manufacturing environment by collecting data, deducing trends, and escalating findings to internal and external teams.
  • Owning the full lifecycle of supplier nonconformances, including root cause investigations, corrective action verification, special adoptions, and escape containment and disposition.
  • Engage with other members of technical sourcing unit to assess prospective supply chain partners, coordinate supplier quality audits, and maintain supplier scorecards.
  • Identifying systemic supplier quality risks and championing continuous improvement initiatives across the supply base.
  • Establish incoming quality control (IQC) procedures for direct materials, including defining inspection criteria, sampling plans, and acceptance standards to ensure only conforming materials enter production.
  • Lead cross-functional discussions with external partners, Supplier Industrialization Engineering, Strategic Sourcing, Quality Control, and Equipment Engineering to monitor, assess, and resolve quality issues related to direct materials.

Supplier Quality Engineer

Lyten is looking for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to join our team and drive quality assurance efforts across our direct material supply base.

In this role, you will be a critical partner in ensuring our suppliers meet the rigorous quality standards required to deliver world‑class products. This role involves significant coordination with internal and external stakeholders, strong QMS acumen, and leading statistical process control activities for critical components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Master's degree in engineering (e.g., electrical, manufacturing), or general science (e.g., chemistry) or a related field AND 1+ years of related experience ...OR bachelor’s degree in engineering (e.g., electrical, manufacturing), or general science (e.g., chemistry) or a related field AND 3+ years of related experience ...OR equivalent experience.
  • Hands‑on experience implementing PPAP and qualifying suppliers in a mass production environment.
  • Strong project management and communication skills to align internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deep familiarity with QMS frameworks (ISO9001, AS9100, or IATF16949) and quality tools such as 8D, SPC, and FMEA.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally on average 20% of the time, with some trips being on short notice.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience qualifying suppliers through structured frameworks such as APQP. Track‑record of leading supplier quality audits, coaching suppliers on industry practices, and executing supplier quality agreements. Previous experience with battery materials or chemical processing is strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to travel between facilities and lift up to 70 pounds
  • No physical limitation to wear PPE, including respirators when required
Compensations Range

The expected base salary range for this position is between $106,000.00 - $159,000.00.

The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job‑related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise.

Pay Transparency Disclosure

This compensation and benefits information is based on Lyten’s estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. We generally do not negotiate on salary once we have made an offer. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job‑related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise. New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company‑specific knowledge. In addition to base pay this position is eligible for tier based bonus and equity, healthcare, dental, vision, corporate discounts, paid holidays, PTO and sick time, 401K, employee relocation plan (if applicable).
