Job summary

Advantage Technical seeks a Supplier Quality Engineer to support supplier quality activities for metal-component suppliers and manufacturing sites. You will act as a quality liaison between suppliers and internal partners to ensure materials meet quality, regulatory, technical, and business requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2–4 years of relevant experience, or Master’s with 0–2 years.
  • 1–2 years of supplier management or supplier quality experience.
  • 1–2 years of experience supporting metal fabrication or manufacturing processes, such as machining, castings, stamping, or other metal technologies.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills.
  • Effective project-management capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build supplier relationships and work effectively across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support supplier onboarding, qualification, and approval activities.
  • Conduct and support supplier assessments, audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Monitor supplier quality performance and identify areas requiring corrective action.
  • Lead or support supplier corrective actions, root cause investigations, and improvement initiatives.
  • Manage supplier-related quality issues involving material, process, or manufacturing changes.
  • Support change-control activities and ensure appropriate quality documentation and approvals are completed.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support new product development and production-readiness activities.
  • Support supplier risk assessments and mitigation planning.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve quality, manufacturing, and delivery-related concerns.
  • Contribute to category-level supplier strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Apply risk-based decision-making to supplier quality and technical issues.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable quality-system requirements.

Position Overview

A leading medical technology organization is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to support supplier quality activities for assigned metal-component suppliers and manufacturing sites.


This role will serve as a key quality liaison between suppliers and internal business partners, helping ensure purchased materials consistently meet quality, regulatory, technical, and business requirements. The Supplier Quality Engineer will work closely with Sourcing, Supplier Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Design Assurance, Program Management, and R&D to improve supplier performance, reduce risk, support new product development, and drive continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities


  • Support supplier onboarding, qualification, and approval activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Machining

  • Castings

  • Other related metal manufacturing technologies

  • Strong technical problem-solving skills.

  • Effective project-management capabilities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to build supplier relationships and work effectively across cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to make sound, risk-based quality decisions.


Preferred Background


  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, ideally medical device or similarly controlled industries.

  • Experience supporting supplier corrective actions and supplier performance improvement.

  • Familiarity with supplier qualification, audits, manufacturing changes, and new product introduction.

  • Experience partnering with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, and R&D teams.

The Supplier Quality Engineer is expected to build quality into all aspects of the work and consistently operate in accordance with applicable quality-system, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
