Job summary

Canadian Solar Inc. is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to drive supplier quality programs and ensure components meet stringent specifications.

You will lead cross‑functional teams to resolve issues, implement corrective actions, and collaborate with suppliers on process improvements. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree, 3+ years in manufacturing quality, knowledge of AIAG standards, and strong problem‑solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (minimum 4 years) or equivalent; quality accreditation (AQC/AIAG) is a plus.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a quality capacity within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process/product quality control and lean manufacturing.
  • Good current working knowledge of AIAG standards (PQP, PPAP & PFMEA, Cpk, SPC, 8D).
  • Strong knowledge in SAP system or other related software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve supplier‑related quality issues, including non‑conformances, defects, claims, and customer complaints.
  • Evaluate supplier performance, introduce new supplier/material, review and approve supplier engineering change, and perform first article inspection.
  • Lead cross‑functional teams to investigate material‑related quality issues and drive solutions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely resolution of quality issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to foster continuous improvement.
  • Assume responsibility for technical responses to suppliers on quality issues; lead investigations and drive corrective actions.
  • Liaise with suppliers during visits and conduct process/system audits.
  • Track and resolve open issues pertaining to new product launches, develop control documents and other customer/supplier required quality documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to enhance product quality and reliability.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions related to supplier quality.
  • Support IQC inspection training, test equipment set up, control plan and SIP updates.
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Canadian Solar Solution Code of Business Conduct.

Position Title: Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE)

Description:

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring that products and components sourced from suppliers meet the company's quality standards and specifications. The SQE will work closely with suppliers to develop and maintain robust quality systems, resolve quality issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires strong technical skills, problem‑solving abilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and external suppliers.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (minimum of 4 years) or equivalent; special consideration given to quality accreditation (AQC/AIAG) and technical courses completed (auditor, etc.).
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a quality capacity within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process/product quality control and lean manufacturing.
  • Good current working knowledge of AIAG standards (PQP, PPAP & PFMEA, Cpk, SPC, 8D).
  • Strong knowledge in SAP system or other related software applications.
  • Six sigma an asset.
  • Quality control background, including problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Professional demeanor at all times.
  • Strong leadership abilities and confident, consistent, decisive personality.
  • Must be able to work with little supervision, self‑directed.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work.
  • Desire for innovative thinking and continual learning.
  • Excellent coaching, mentoring, mediating and negotiating skills.
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills with MS Office and e‑mail required.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
