Job summary

CS Power Systems, a division of Canadian Solar in Jeffersonville, IN, seeks a Supplier Quality Specialist I to ensure incoming materials meet quality standards and establish strong supplier controls.

You will lead cross-functional teams, resolve non-conformances, and drive continuous improvement with suppliers, audits, and PPAP/APQP activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education.
• At least 1 year of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of AIAG standards (PQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Cpk, SPC, 8D).

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve supplier-related quality issues.
• Evaluate supplier performance and approve supplier changes.
• Lead cross-functional teams to address material quality issues.
• Collaborate with suppliers for timely resolutions and prevention.
• Develop strong supplier relationships for continuous improvement.
• Lead technical responses and corrective actions to suppliers.
• Liaise with suppliers during visits and conduct process/system audits.
• Track issues for new product launches and maintain quality documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers for quality.
• Support IQC training, equipment setup, and control plan updates.
• Ensure compliance with Code of Business Conduct and ISO 9001.

Position Title: Supplier Quality Specialist I

Department: Quality

Entity: Jeffersonville PV Cells (PVJC)

Reports To: Supplier Quality Supervisor

Location: Jeffersonville, Indiana

Description:

The Supplier Quality Specialist is responsible for ensuring that products and components sourced from suppliers meet the company's quality standards and specifications. The SQ Specialist will work closely with suppliers to develop and maintain robust quality systems, resolve quality issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.

Responsibilities:

• Investigate and resolve supplier-related quality issues, including non-conformances, defects, claim, and customer complaints.
• Evaluate supplier performance, introduce new supplier/material, review and approve supplier engineering change, do first article inspection.
• Lead cross-functional teams to investigate material related quality issues and drive solutions.
• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely resolution of quality issues and prevent recurrence.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to foster continuous improvement.
• Assume responsibility for technical responses to suppliers on quality issues; lead investigations and drive corrective actions.
• Liaise with Suppliers during visits, conduct process/system audits.
• Track and resolve open issues pertaining to new product launches, develop control documents and other Customer/Supplier required quality documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to enhance product quality and reliability
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions related to supplier quality.
• Support IQC inspection training, test equipment set up, Control plan and SIP updates
• Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Canadian Solar Solution Code of Business Conduct
• Support ISO 9001 activities
• Adhere to all environmental, health and safety rules and policies.
• Conduct other duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree (minimum of 4 years) or equivalent years of education; Special consideration given to Quality Accreditation’s (AQC/AIAG) and technical courses completed (Auditor, etc.)
• Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a Quality capacity within a manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated ability to drive process/product quality control, lean manufacturing.
• Good current working knowledge of AIAG standards (PQP, PPAP & PFMEA, Cpk, SPC, 8D )
• Strong Knowledge in SAP system or other related software applications
• Six sigma an asset
• Quality Control background, including problem solving and root cause analysis.

• Must be able to work with little supervision, must be self-directed.
• Attention to detail in all area of work
• Desire for innovative thinking and continual learning
