Job summary

BuildCorridor seeks a Supplier Quality Engineer to own the supplier quality function across two Lakeville facilities. You will oversee incoming quality, containment, and supplier corrective actions, serving as the technical contact for non-conforming parts and working with suppliers to prevent recurrence.

The role reports to the President and requires collaboration with Purchasing, Receiving, Material Control, and QA teams in an on-site setting.

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in Quality, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in supplier quality with understanding of quality processes and systems.
  • Engineering/manufacturing background; fabrication experience preferred.
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement exposure (Six Sigma/Kaizen) preferred.

Job description

We are partnering with a leader in industrial manufacturing, specializing in engineered acoustic engine exhaust silencers, discharge plenums, exhaust piping systems, and custom metal fabrication. They serve engine OEMs, enclosure manufacturers, marine, power generation, and other industrial markets. Privately held and profitable, they have grown from 25 to 130 employees in three years and recently added a second facility.

They are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to own the supplier quality function across both facilities.

Role overview

You will lead supplier quality across all facilities, covering incoming inspection, issue containment, and supplier corrective actions. You will be the technical point of contact when a supplied part is wrong, and the person who works with suppliers to make sure it does not happen twice.

This is an ownership role in a company that has grown fast. The supplier base has grown with it, and this position exists to bring structure to that.

Reports to the President.

Key responsibilities
Incoming quality and containment
  • Ensure suppliers meet contractual requirements and maintain compliance with product specifications.
  • Work with Purchasing, Receiving, Material Control, and QA Receiving Inspection to evaluate and disposition incoming production goods.
  • Complete or oversee 100 percent blanket and bellow inspection, which must be signed off by a quality representative.
  • Support containment, segregation, nonconforming material review, and trend analysis on supplied parts.
  • Communicate product acceptance results to all affected departments.
Corrective action
  • Issue and manage external supplier corrective and preventive action requests, and verify the effectiveness of supplier corrective actions.
  • Support responses to customer corrective action requests on supplier parts, including failure analysis reports and root cause analysis.
  • Evaluate, qualify, and approve new suppliers and vendors.
  • Build development plans for suppliers against performance targets and monitor their progress.
  • Work directly with suppliers to improve product quality and their underlying quality systems.
  • Train suppliers on quality requirements, investigation methods, and process improvement tools.
  • Develop and maintain supplier metrics and scorecards.
What you bring
  • Four-year degree in Quality, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous supplier quality experience, with a working understanding of quality processes and systems, manufacturing processes, basic statistical methods, and program management.
  • Engineering or manufacturing background. Fabrication experience preferred.
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement exposure, such as Six Sigma or Kaizen, preferred.
  • Advanced ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, including advanced GD&T principles and inspection of critical features.
  • Proficient in FAI and PPAP methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of structured corrective action methods such as 8D, RCCA, 7 Step, or CAR.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001, and the ability to apply quality standards in measurement activities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including with suppliers who are not meeting standard.
Work environment

On-site in Lakeville, with regular time in receiving, inspection, and production areas requiring PPE. Travel required for on-site supplier qualification audits.

  • Salary range $75-$95K, based on experience.
