AES seeks a Supplier Quality Engineer to lead the SQA functions across facilities, overseeing incoming inspection, issue containment, and supplier actions. Lead the overall SQA functions for all facilities including incoming inspection, issue containment, and supplier actions. Provides technical support and analysis on supplier quality related issues to ensure timely resolution. Supports nonconformance and corrective action systems to improve supplier quality culture.
Ensure suppliers meet contractual requirements and maintain compliance with product specifications.
Work with Purchasing, Receiving, Material Control, QA Receiving Inspection to evaluate and disposition incoming production goods.
Communicate with all necessary departments regarding product acceptance results.
Support containment, segregation, NCM review, and trend analysis processes activities relative to supplied parts.
Issue and manage external supplier corrective and preventative actions requests. Verify effectiveness of supplier corrective actions.
Assist in responding to our Customer’s Supplier Corrective and Preventative Actions. Requests to include Failure Analysis Reports, Root Cause Analysis, etc. for supplier parts.
Evaluate, qualify, and approve new Suppliers/Vendors.
Create a development plan for suppliers to support performance targets and monitor their performance in meeting AES goals.
Work directly with suppliers to improve overall product quality. Drive improvements to their overall quality systems.
Perform training with suppliers on AES quality requirements, performing investigations, part/product related training, and process improvement tools.
Develop and maintain metrics and scorecards for suppliers
Perform other duties as required.
Advanced ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, including understanding of advanced GD&T principles and inspection of critical features.
Proficient in FAI and PPAP methodologies
Working knowledge in systematized approach to corrective action methodologies (8D, RCCA, 7 Step, CAR)
Proven leadership, interpersonal skills and personal development skills.
Demonstrated communication skills both in writing and verbally.
Knowledgeable in (QMS), such as ISO 9001, and the ability to apply quality standards and requirements in measurement activities.
Previous supplier quality experience with a good understanding of quality processes and systems, manufacturing processes, basic statistical methods and program management is highly desirable
Engineering or manufacturing background, fabrication experience preferred
4-year College or University Degree in Quality, Engineering, Business or related field preferred.
Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement experience – Exposure to methodologies like Six Sigma or Kaizen to drive process improvements.
