Job summary

Lear Corporation in Hammond, IN is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to ensure supplier parts meet engineering requirements and to lead containment, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.

You will supervise Incoming Inspectors, review QC reports, and coordinate with divisional supplier quality to implement containment and drive continuous improvement using APQP and quality tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • 2-3 years of manufacturing plant experience.
  • Proficiency with APQP, FMEA, GD&T, MSA, PPAP, and SPC.

Responsibilities

  • Support plant production by ensuring supplier parts meet engineering requirements.
  • Manage supplier notification, responsiveness, containment, root cause determination, corrective actions, and closure of supplier quality issues using internal supplier tracking database.
  • Track all supplier related costs associated with inadequate quality and/or service; summarize these costs and communicate to the supplier via the debit memo process.
  • Receive and inspection process owner which includes supervising Incoming Inspectors and maintaining incoming inspection reports, data and / or records.
  • Report monthly supplier performance and quality to management using standardized reports.
  • Coordinate with Divisional Supplier Quality, the communication and implementation of formal controlled internal or external staffed containment action.
  • Facilitate and supervise all supplier-based sorting and product containment activities.
  • Authority and responsibility to stop any process or product delivery in case of a non-conformance of customer expectations, safety, or environmental risks.
  • Process the parts on quarantine / SAP return material.
  • Expertise in APQP gate Review development process.

Education

    • PPAP
    • SPC
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills using 8D methodology:
