Job summary

Actalent is hiring a Supplier Development Quality Engineer in Scarborough, ME to drive continuous improvement in supplier quality and mitigate risk. You will lead nonconformance, CAPA, and supplier changes while partnering with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Quality to ensure materials meet product and regulatory requirements.

You will own supplier corrective actions, develop inspection criteria, and manage supplier performance metrics, including trend analysis and issue

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• 24 years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or a closely related discipline.
• Practical experience in quality engineering, including application of quality tools and methodologies.
• Ability to analyze supplier performance data, including PPM, defect rates, yield, and escapes.
• Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing CAPA for supplier-related issues.
• Proven ability to manage supplier nonconformance, including containment, resolution and closure.
• Ability to collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement and Quality.
• Strong communication skills to convey supplier quality issues and influence actions without authority.
• Capability to develop, maintain and apply inspection procedures and acceptance criteria for incoming materials.
• Experience supporting or owning supplier change management processes, including risk assessment and approvals.

Responsibilities

• Onboard new suppliers by validating readiness to meet quality and regulatory expectations.
• Lead supplier improvement plans to address performance gaps and enhance capability.
• Collaborate with suppliers to improve process capability and product quality.
• Track supplier quality metrics and perform trend analysis to identify issues.
• Monitor supplier performance and identify risks affecting quality or supply continuity.
• Support formal supplier reviews and follow up on agreed improvement actions.
• Investigate supplier-related defects and root causes to determine corrective actions.
• Own supplier nonconformance management, containment, resolution and closure.
• Support CAPA implementation to address recurring supplier quality problems.
• Drive supplier corrective actions and verify sustained performance.
• Communicate supplier quality issues to internal stakeholders and suppliers.
• Support development and maintenance of inspection procedures for incoming materials.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align supplier capabilities with requirements.
• Provide input to supplier-related quality decisions and improvement priorities.
• Participate in cross-functional problem solving for complex quality issues.
