Job summary

General Kinematics, based in Crystal Lake, IL, is seeking a Sourcing and Supplier Quality Engineer to develop and monitor an outsourced supplier strategy, conduct internal and supplier audits, and support QMS management. The role requires interaction with domestic and international subcontractors to ensure compliance with GK specifications and PPAP processes.

You will lead supplier development, certifications, and APQP initiatives, maintaining records and reporting supplier performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical/business field or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge in ISO 9001:2015 and experience internal auditing.
• Confidence and skill in comparing engineering drawings with product and assessing gaps – primarily with steel fabrication and assembly techniques.
• Demonstrate objectivity, professionalism, integrity, and honesty in dealing with people at all levels and facilitate an environment for open and honest discussion.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Project and program management skills (organization, communication, conflict resolution).

Responsibilities

• Assist in development and support of an outsourced supplier strategy with monthly measurement and sharing results.
• Assist in ISO 9001:2015 Audit Program; conduct internal and supplier audits and support QMS management.
• Support purchasing with supplier development and certification; manage records like supplier score cards and supplier agreements.
• Review and validate supplier PPAPs; visit subcontractors domestically and internationally to verify compliance; provide guidance on quality gaps.
• Assist with development and certification of service suppliers (GKC).
• Facilitate APQP and integrate into systems when ready.
• Maintain weekly status updates with internal departments to meet timelines.
• Assist in contract reviews including inspection criteria and process sheets for all production phases.
• Manage supplier charge-backs related to outsourced base; report monthly to finance and purchasing.
• Research alternate sources for critical components and ensure supply chain reliability.
• Support ISO objectives and GK WAY program; document QMS issues during reviews.
