Job summary

Applied Materials, Inc. is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to evaluate technical requirements, select materials, and collaborate with Design Engineering and NPD teams to ensure manufacturability and supplier alignment in a fast-paced semiconductor environment.

You will lead supplier audits, drive cost and quality improvements, train engineers, and influence process-level resolutions while traveling up to 25% to support global supplier partners.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates technical requirements of new and existing products and recommends materials to Design Engineering to improve quality, lead time, and cost.
  • Collaborates with New Product Development teams to ensure clear engineering drawing requirements and effective communication with suppliers.
  • Collaborates with NPI teams to involve suppliers in specification reviews to promote design for manufacturability.
  • Leads supplier selection to build a base delivering quality, cost, delivery, and technology advantages.
  • Leads supplier technical audits and drives performance improvement at suppliers.
  • Trains supplier engineers on audit and evaluation processes.
  • Leads quality issue resolution and corrective action through root-cause analysis.
  • Drives systemic supplier resolutions at the process level.
  • Assists in cost planning by monitoring cost drivers and supply markets.
  • Demonstrates depth of expertise in the field.
  • Interprets business challenges and recommends improvements to products and processes.
  • Leads functional teams or projects with moderate scope.
  • Leads others to solve complex problems using analytical thinking and innovative solutions.
  • Impacts customer, operational, and project goals guided by policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluates technical requirements of new and existing products. Applies knowledge of qualified sources and products to recommend materials to Design Engineering, which would result in savings, lead time reductions, system improvements, increased life and/or mitigated risk.
  • Work with New Product Development teams to ensure the integrity and clarity of engineering drawing requirements and that all expectations are communicated effectively to supporting suppliers.
  • Participation with New Product Introduction teams to ensure suppliers are involved in the development and review of specifications to promote design for manufacturability.
  • Continuous involvement in the Supplier Selection Process to develop a supply base that provides competitive advantage in quality, value/cost, delivery and technology.
  • Leads the supplier technical audit process and evaluates supplier performance and capability, drive continuous improvement opportunities at supplier.
  • Training other supplier engineers on the supplier audit and evaluation process.
  • Leads quality problem resolutions and incident management, drive root cause and correction action.
  • Identifies and drives broad based systemic supplier resolutions at the process level.
  • Assist in cost planning by monitoring key cost drivers, supply markets, to ensure a competitive advantage.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable. For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
