Qualifications

  • 1-3 years’ experience in manufacturing mechanical parts.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO9001, AS9100, TS16949).
  • Ability to interpret drawings and schematics.

Your Impact

As Axon’s Supplier Development Engineer, you will support quality engineering for products like Conducted Electrical Weapons (CEW), cartridges, body-worn cameras, and accessories. Your responsibilities include collaborating with suppliers alongside Axon Design Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams, selecting qualified suppliers, improving supplier performance, and enhancing product quality globally.

What You’ll Do

Location: Onsite at our Scottsdale, AZ office with up to 30% travel

Reports to: Sr Manager, Supplier Quality NPI and Process Excellence

  1. Audit supplier manufacturing & inspection processes to ensure compliance with Axon Quality standards.
  2. Evaluate and select production suppliers, conducting onsite audits to assess quality and processes.
  3. Implement and monitor flow-down of Axon’s Supplier Quality Manual.
  4. Assist with New Product Introduction (NPI) and ensure supplier compliance with inspection and quality requirements.
  5. Review product validation reports, monitor FMEA and control plans, and suggest improvements.
  6. Assess and evaluate supplier inspection capabilities and process studies.
  7. Review engineering drawings and specifications, coordinating acceptance with internal teams.
  8. Report and resolve supplier quality issues, including non-conformance and corrective actions.
  9. Develop remedial actions for low-performing suppliers, monitoring improvements.
  10. Communicate supplier performance metrics to internal teams.
  11. Identify and address complex quality problems, developing solutions.
  12. Design and conduct product and process tests to ensure quality.
  13. Apply engineering principles and quality tools to improve manufacturing and product quality.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, Chemistry, or Material Engineering
  • 1-3 years’ experience in manufacturing mechanical parts
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO9001, AS9100, TS16949)
  • At least two years’ experience in quality audits under relevant standards
  • Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, and engineering change notices
  • Understanding of inspection processes and statistical measurement techniques
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, familiar with QC tools and methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Experience with statistical software (e.g., Minitab, JMP)
  • Team-oriented interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
