The Supplemental Physical Therapist assesses patients, develops and initiates treatment plans based on evaluation results, which may include measurements of neuromuscular and skeletal functions. The incumbent documents findings, progress, and provides instruction to patients and caregivers. The therapist will offer recommendations and assist physical therapists and management with program development. The therapist will also serve as a resource and mentor, overseeing the development, guidance, and training of assistants, students, interns, and rehabilitation technicians regarding individual patient care.
A physical therapist practicing direct access will examine and evaluate a patient's current conditions, potentially identifying movement and mobility dysfunctions. They will not diagnose illnesses or diseases. If a medical diagnosis has already been established by a healthcare professional, it will be considered during the evaluation process.
