Job Summary

The Supplemental Physical Therapist assesses patients, develops and initiates treatment plans based on evaluation results, which may include measurements of neuromuscular and skeletal functions. The incumbent documents findings, progress, and provides instruction to patients and caregivers. The therapist will offer recommendations and assist physical therapists and management with program development. The therapist will also serve as a resource and mentor, overseeing the development, guidance, and training of assistants, students, interns, and rehabilitation technicians regarding individual patient care.

A physical therapist practicing direct access will examine and evaluate a patient's current conditions, potentially identifying movement and mobility dysfunctions. They will not diagnose illnesses or diseases. If a medical diagnosis has already been established by a healthcare professional, it will be considered during the evaluation process.

PRN Physical Therapist needed primarily for weekend coverage. Minimum commitment of 2-3 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. Start time typically 8am, but flexible. New graduates are welcome!

Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's or graduate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited university-based program.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current license to practice Physical Therapy in Texas or through the Physical Therapy Compact; Current Basic Life Support certification.
Additional Qualifications for Direct Access Practice:
  • Education: Doctoral degree with residency or fellowship, or licensed therapist with 30 hours of continuing competence activities in differential diagnosis.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Same as above.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
  • One (1) year of experience preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to mentor/train staff or supervise interns/students.
  • Demonstrates clinical leadership and expertise in specific patient groups or programs.
  • Serves as a clinical resource and may lead departmental committees or initiatives.
  • Designs and implements staff development programs to enhance clinical skills.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75/100 pounds, carry 30 pounds, and perform prolonged standing, walking, stooping, and squatting.
  • Fine motor skills, good eye-hand coordination, and effective communication skills.
  • Visual acuity to monitor instruments, distinguish colors, and observe physical characteristics.
  • Flexible schedule commitment with willingness to move within patient care areas as needed.
