SUPPLEMENTAL ONLY- SWIMMING (HEAD COACH)

Qualifications: Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of any General Education Development (GED) Testing Program. Florida State Statute mandates that all high school coaches hold a valid Florida Educator Certificate. Applicants without a valid Florida Educator Certificate must obtain an Athletic Coaching Certificate from the Florida Department of Education. Knowledge of the sport and the ability to impart this knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Operate a program within the philosophy of the school.
• Administer game details for home and away contests.
• Assign duties to assistant coaches and ensure communication of information and materials.
• Be aware of legal responsibilities, take precautions against negligence, and inform staff accordingly.
• Manage care, maintenance, and ordering of equipment and facilities.
• Recommend assistant coaches and letter winners.
• Use professional coaching methods and set a good example.
• Be competent in rules, techniques, strategies, and skills.
• Motivate staff and players toward goals.
• Maintain wholesome public relations within the school, community, and other schools.
• Interpret the program to the community as part of the educational program.
• Stay updated with current developments and information related to the role.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or athletic director.
• Follow federal and state laws and School Board policies.

Physical Requirements

Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.

Terms of Employment

Salary and benefits are aligned with the District's compensation plan. Work year and hours are as established by the School Board.
