Job summary

Fcstn is seeking a coach for athletic programs in Tennessee with a paid supplement based on the approved pay scale and no teaching duties. The role involves assisting with sport-related duties, ensuring practice area safety, and supporting athletic program initiatives.

The coach will provide guidance to student-athletes during practices and games, stay informed on medical clearances, and work under the head coach to ensure eligibility and compliance with rules and district policies.

Qualifications

• Assists in any assigned duties related to the sport.
• Keeps practice areas safe by checking daily and removing hazards.
• Develops a positive public relations program in the school and community.
• Gives equipment purchase recommendations to the athletic director.
• Directs student-athletes at practices and games.
• Keeps updated on medical treatment and clearance of athletic injuries.

Responsibilities

• Coaches and mentors student-athletes during practices and games.
• Ensures safety procedures and compliance with Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association rules.
• Upholds district policies regarding interscholastic sports and eligibility.
• Performs duties as assigned by Supervisor or Head Coach.
• Participates in background checks and pre-employment screenings as required.

• Assists in any assigned duties related to the sport.
• Assumes responsibility for checking all practice areas each day and removes hazardous objects from the practice area.
• Helps develop a positive public relations program in the school and the community.
• Makes recommendations to the athletic director for purchasing equipment.
• Provides direction for student-athletes at practices and games.
• Maintains familiarity with the latest and up-to-date requirements for seeking the appropriate medical treatment and clearance of athletic injuries.
• The coach will conduct himself/herself in a manner that will set a good example for students to follow on and off the field.
• Assumes responsibility with the head coach for eligibility of participants and insurance coverage of team members.
• Assumes responsibility for knowing the latest rules of the game, Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association rules and regulations and School District policies regarding interscholastic sports.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

To ensure the safety and welfare of students and staff, the district shall require criminal history background checks and fingerprinting of applicants for teaching positions and any other positions that require proximity to children. Additionally, satisfactory results from a required pre-employment drug screen as well as checks with various state/federal registries are required before an applicant is actually employed by Franklin County Schools.
