Job summary

Collierville Schools in Tennessee is seeking a dedicated sports coach to lead and support the school’s athletic program. The role includes training players, coordinating program development, and upholding school and athletic policies while fostering positive relations with parents and the community.

The coach will supervise practices and games, manage equipment inventory, and coordinate with athletic staff to ensure safe, fair competition and student growth in leadership and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Tennessee Teacher License (if applicable) or ASEP/NFHS Coaching Certification.
• Complete the TBI/FBI background check performed by Collierville Schools.
• Ability to organize and supervise a sports program/team.

Responsibilities

• Train and coach the members of the program in season and off season.
• Coordinate the development and promotion of the program.
• Relate positively to parents and other community representatives.
• Provide instruction that will lead to the formulation of values, work ethic, responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline, leadership, and self-confidence.
• Has a thorough knowledge of athletic policies and implements them.
• Supervise practices, games, and team trips.
• Communicate and work with athletic training staff.
• Maintain inventory of uniforms/equipment.
• Schedule games with approval of the Athletic Director and school sponsor.
• Represent the school and system in a professional manner.
• Supervise the Booster club and its activities.
• Maintain good public relations with media, Booster club and volunteers.

Essential Functions

Essential Functions

• Train and coach the members of the program in season and off season
• Coordinate the development and promotion of the program
• Comply with school and school board policies and regulations
• Relate positively to parents and other community representatives
• Provide instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, strong work ethic, responsibility, team work, sportsmanship, self-discipline, leadership, and self-confidence
• Has a thorough knowledge of school, conference, TSSAA, and NCAA athletic policies and is responsible for their implementation
• Attends all required meetings and submits all required paperwork in a timely manner
• Maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school athletic program and school community
• Completes all TSSAA rules exams and attends meetings
• Supervises practices, games, and team trips
• Communicates and works with athletic training staff
• Maintains inventory of uniform/equipment
• Schedule games with approval of the Athletic Director and school sponsor
• Represent the school and system in a professional manner
• Supervises the Booster club and its activities
• Maintains good public relations with media, Booster club and volunteers
• Ensures that facilities and grounds are safe to use and communicates with Maintenance staff about all issues

Minimum Qualifications

• Performs other functions as assigned
• Complete the TBI/FBI background check performed by Collierville Schools
• Valid Tennessee Teacher License (if applicable) or ASEP/NFHS Coaching Certification
• Ability to organize and supervise a sports program/team

Preferred Previous Coaching Experience In Assigned Sport

• Knowledge of technical aspects of the assigned sport and willingness to continue to learn and examine new ideas pertinent to the assigned sport or coaching in general
• Good role model
