Job summary

Franklin County Schools is seeking a classroom paraprofessional to support the teacher with instructional activities, manage materials, supervise students during drills, assemblies, field trips, and help with testing.

This on-site role requires documenting daily progress, assisting individual students or small groups, reinforcing learning, and following safety rules. Applicants must undergo background checks and pre-employment drug screening as required by the district.

Qualifications

• Criminal history background checks are required for employment.
• Fingerprinting will be required prior to employment.
• Pre-employment drug screening is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Administer, score, and record such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students.
• Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
• Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.
• Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips;
• Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and makeup work as assigned by the teacher;
• Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills;
• Assume responsibility for knowing and following the safety rules and proper procedures associated with the responsibilities of the job;
• Type and duplicate tests, worksheets, and supplementary materials;
• Assist the teacher in assimilating material for class displays;
• Document what is completed in the class every day; and
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Collaborative teacher or the classroom teacher.

To ensure the safety and welfare of students and staff, the district shall require criminal history background checks and fingerprinting of applicants for teaching positions and any other positions that require proximity to children. Additionally, satisfactory results from a required pre-employment drug screen as well as checks with various state/federal registries are required before an applicant is actually employed by Franklin County Schools.
