Job Summary
This position is located within DC Health's Community Health Administration (CHA). CHA works to prevent the leading causes of death, protect and promote the health of mothers and children and eliminate racial and ethnic health disparities in health. CHA focuses on nutrition and physical activity promotion; cancer and chronic disease prevention and control; access to quality primary health care services; and the health of families across the lifespan. CHA’s approach targets the multiple factors that influence health through evidence-based programs, policies and systems change. This position will be placed within a school within the District of Columbia.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Supervisory Nurse Coordinator oversees and supports a team of nurses within assigned entities to ensure effective clinical operations and adherence to health protocols, district regulations, and best practices. The role includes providing mentorship and clinical guidance to health suite staff, assisting with complex cases, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment. The coordinator supervises clinical service delivery, including first aid, emergency response, medication administration, health screenings, and chronic disease management. Responsibilities also include coordinating staffing and workload distribution, adjusting assignments based on patient needs, caseloads, and suite capacity. The coordinator monitors documentation and data entry to ensure accurate, up-to-date records of patient health, immunizations, and screenings, and analyzes health suite data trends to recommend improvements that enhance patient health outcomes across the cluster.
Qualifications And Education
A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission of Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.
Licenses and Certifications
Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto
Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Must possess CPR/AED certification and complete continuing education requirements as mandated by DOH or federal grants.
Incumbent is required to possess a valid driver license in order to operate a government/personal vehicle to conduct site visits and nurse trainings.
Working Conditions / Environment
The incumbent must be able to carry out official duties in a variety of settings and conditions. Routine work will occur primarily in an office setting.
