This vacancy is for a GS-1801-13, SUPERVISORY MARINE INSPECTOR located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SECTOR HOUSTON/GALVESTON INSPECTIONS DIVISION in HOUSTON, Texas.

Key Responsibilities

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY MARINE INSPECTOR and be responsible for providing technical expertise, administrative guidance, and supervisory leadership to military and civilians on issues related to foreign and domestic vessels, marine safety, inspection of facilities and containers, pollution prevention, security, manning laws, regulations, treaties, and international conventions. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.

Typical work assignments include: Serves as the Chief of Port State Control, directs and oversees program requirements for foreign vessel safety, operation, and design requirements Supervises a subordinate staff of military and civilian marine inspectors: oversees training, performance management, and employee relations Serves as primary inspection representative with the maritime industry responsible for foreign vessel operations and safety Provides senior-level coordination with other federal, state, and foreign government representatives for foreign vessel operations and safety Performs field inspections to maintain competency and recency for marine inspector qualifications Serves as a technical specialist on the Incident Management Team, providing expertise to support emergency response and port safety Reasonable Accommodation (RA) Requests: If you believe you have a disability (i.e., physical or mental), covered by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended that would interfere with completing the USA Hire Competency Based Assessments, you will be granted the opportunity to request a RA in your online application.
