Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Supervisory Licensing Engineer to lead licensing strategy for AP1000, AP300, and eVinci designs. You will manage a team of licensing engineers, report to the New Plant Licensing Manager, and operate in a mobile/hybrid role based in Cranberry, PA or Rock Hill, SC.

You will coordinate with customers, licensees, and regulators, ensure compliance with domestic and international standards, and drive schedules and staffing for the licensing team.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of technical leadership experience.
  • Familiar with licensing, regulatory interfaces domestically and internationally.
  • Familiar with Westinghouse advanced plant designs, operation and work processes.
  • Nuclear safety and customer focus mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of licensing strategies for AP1000, AP300, and eVinci designs.
  • Manage resource workload and assignments to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
  • Ensure team compliance with safety, quality, cost, performance, and schedule expectations.
  • Support team development, including training compliance and mentoring.
  • Conduct quarterly performance reviews and provide feedback via the manager.
  • Develop proposals through technical input, scope definition, and scheduling coordination.
  • Promote communication with customers, licensees, NRC, and international regulators.
  • Collaborate with technical leads to set technical direction of work.
  • Report team status, risks, and resource needs to Global Licensing staff and partners.
  • Assist Manager in hiring, onboarding, and development of the licensing team.

About the role:

As a Supervisory Licensing Engineer, you will help deploy advanced nuclear technology, with a focus on Advanced Plant reactor projects. You will contribute to the licensing and regulatory strategy for new nuclear plant development, ensuring compliance with domestic and international standards. You will have a team of direct reports who will implement the assigned APX Licensing Projects.

As a supervisory engineer, you will lead teams of licensing engineers to develop the licensing strategy and deliverables.

You will report to the New Plant Licensing Manager and work a mobile/hybrid role located in Cranberry, PA or Rock Hill, SC.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the implementation of licensing strategies for new nuclear plant technologies, with emphasis on AP1000, AP300, and eVinci designs.
  • Manage resource workload and assignments to minimize downtime and maintain high productivity
  • Ensure team follows safety, quality, cost, performance, and schedule expectations.
  • Support team development, including training compliance, technical leadership development, and mentoring.
  • Conduct quarterly performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback as delegated by the manager.
  • Develop proposal development through technical input, scope definition, and schedule coordination.
  • Promote communication between Westinghouse, customers/licensees, the U.S. NRC, and international regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with technical leads to establish technical direction of work.
  • Communicate team status, risks, resource needs, priorities, and technical recommendations to Global Licensing staff and project partners.
  • Support Manager in hiring, onboarding, and employee development of entire New Plant licensing team.
Qualifications:
  • 12+ years of experience demonstrating technical leadership responsibilities, including mentoring and coordination of work.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • We prefer familiarity with licensing, including experience with regulatory interface, both domestically and internationally.
  • Familiar w/ Westinghouse advanced plant designs, operation, and work processes
  • Nuclear safety and customer focus outlook
  • <10% travel to support customer, industry, or regulator activities, with opportunities for additional travel, if desired.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $116,800 to $146,000 per year.
