Job description

Are you interested in being part of an innovative team that supports Westinghouse's mission to provide clean energy solutions? At Westinghouse, we recognize that our employees are our most valuable asset and we seek to identify, attract and recruit the most qualified talent while recognizing and encouraging the value of diversity in the global workplace.

About the role:

As a Senior Manager, Project and Siting you will provide technical and strategic leadership for AP1000, AP300, and other advanced nuclear opportunities during the project development phase. You will lead siting evaluations, site development studies, feasibility assessments, construction readiness activities, and early project engineering efforts that establish the foundation for successful project execution.

The position serves as a key integrator between engineering, licensing, construction, project controls, supply chain, business development, and customer organizations to mature opportunities from initial engagement through Final Investment Decision (FID), Engineering Services Contracts (ESC), and EPC contracting activities. You will develop the technical, commercial, and execution frameworks needed to support customer investment decisions and enable constructors to accurately cost, schedule, plan, and complete their scope of work.

You will report to the Director, APx Project Engineering and be located at Cranberry Township, PA. You will enjoy a hybrid work arrangement, blending remote flexibility with regular on-site collaboration at our office.

Key Responsibilities:
Project Development Leadership
  • Lead technical project development activities supporting AP1000, AP300, restart, brownfield, and greenfield opportunities.
  • Support customer engagements from early opportunity development through feasibility studies, early works, ESC scope definition, FID readiness, and EPC contracting.
  • Develop execution strategies, technical roadmaps, study plans, and readiness plans that advance opportunities toward executable project decisions.
Siting & Site Development
  • Lead prospective site evaluations, including infrastructure condition, site constraints, constructability, logistics, utility interfaces, cooling water considerations, and site-specific development requirements.
  • Develop site-specific engineering assumptions and interface strategies required to support feasibility studies, cost estimates, and project schedules.
  • Coordinate diverse resources supporting civil/structural, mechanical, electrical, digital, construction, licensing, and project controls inputs to siting studies.
  • Support development of Site Specific Requirements, Interface Management Plan inputs, Design Interface Description inputs, infrastructure assessments, and early site execution strategies.
Construction Readiness & Execution Planning
  • Lead construction readiness activities that prepare projects for constructor engagement, EPC procurement, and successful field execution.
  • Establish readiness roadmaps identifying the engineering, planning, procurement, digital, construction, and governance deliverables required before FID.
  • Support constructability reviews, installation strategy development, construction sequencing, modularization planning, site logistics planning, and construction interface resolution.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables provide prospective constructors with the information required to develop reliable cost, schedule, resource, and execution plans.
Project Plans, Cost, Schedule & Risk
  • Lead development of integrated project plans, including Project Execution, Engineering, Construction, Site Management, Commissioning and Startup, Operational Readiness, Quality, Communications, and Risk Management plans.
  • Support development of Class 4 through Class 2 estimating inputs, engineering and procurement assumptions, construction cost estimate support, and integrated engineering-procurement-construction schedules.
  • Identify critical project risks, execution assumptions, site dependencies, schedule drivers, and readiness gaps, and lead mitigation planning.
Engineering, Licensing & Partner Integration
  • Support licensing, regulatory, and customer interface activities where siting, structural, civil, construction, or design-basis issues impact project execution strategy.
  • Facilitate collaboration between home office engineering, site engineering, construction organizations, digital delivery teams, suppliers, customers, and prospective EPC partners.
  • Be the senior technical advisor on project development, siting, constructability, structural/civil interfaces, and execution readiness.
Leadership & Capability Development
  • Provide mentorship and technical direction to project engineers, project development personnel, and study teams.
  • Promote disciplined execution planning, transparent risk management, and customer-focused delivery.
  • Develop repeatable approaches, templates, and best practices for siting studies, feasibility assessments, construction readiness programs, and early project execution planning.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Professional Engineer registration.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in nuclear, energy, industrial, infrastructure, or major capital project environments.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting project development, site evaluation, and major project execution.
  • Strong understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, licensing interfaces, project controls, cost estimating, and schedule development.
  • Support customer-facing and executive-level engagements.
Beneficial:
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • Experience supporting AP1000, AP300, nuclear new-build, restart, or large regulated infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with siting studies, feasibility assessments, construction readiness, structural/civil engineering, constructability, site engineering, or EPC project delivery.
  • Experience supporting regulatory, NRC, customer, constructor, or field engineering interfaces.
  • Familiarity with digital engineering, information management systems, 3D modeling tools, construction work packaging, or model transfer activities.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $144,000-$ 180,000 per year.
