Job description

The 50th Civil Engineering Squadron is looking for an energetic full-time Supervisory General Engineer (NH-0801-04) to work at Schriever SFB, CO.

If selected, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period.

Salary:

$129,096 to $167,830 per year including locality pay

  • If your current basic salary is within the NH-04 band, but above the stated Value of Position “VOP”, your basic salary will not be reduced if you are selected for the position.*
Requirements To Be Considered:

In this role, you will serve as a senior engineer responsible for leading, conducting, and directing complex engineering activities. You will support higher‑level leadership on challenging and innovative program development initiatives, operating with broad guidance on policy, resources, and planning. The position requires developing solutions to highly complex, multidisciplinary problems and ensuring all program objectives are successfully achieved.

  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • Professional License: Registration or license as a Professional Engineer is required for this position.
  • Education requirements: Degree accredited by ABET or combination of education and experience (General Engineering Series 0801 Qualification Standards).
  • Testing Designated Position: Under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program, this position is designated as a drug testing position.
Duties And Responsibilities
Supervisory Tasks:

Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short/long-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Evaluates work performance of subordinates. Gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters. Interviews candidates for positions; recommends appointment, promotion, or reassignment. Hears and resolves complaints from employees, referring group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to a higher level supervisor or manager. Effects minor disciplinary measures, such as warnings and reprimands, recommending other action in more serious cases. Identifies developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training. Finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed. Develops performance standards.

Program Management

Leads the development and integration of goals and objectives across program development, project design, construction management, and technical support to ensure effective execution of BCAMP and BAMP. You will shape and refine policies, procedures, and organizational structures to remove barriers, strengthen team performance, and ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and customer requirements. You will direct and prioritize work across subordinate units, optimize resources, and provide strategic guidance to supervisors while monitoring performance for efficiency, effectiveness, and adherence to Air Force standards. Additionally, you will evaluate resource needs, implement shifts in organizational priorities, maintain systems that validate government requirements, and ensure high‑quality, cost‑effective operations.

Representation & Coordination

Represent the Engineering Flight across installation and functional organizations, building and maintaining effective relationships with base leadership, DoD and Federal agencies, and civilian partners to support project and program management. You engage with key customers to assess satisfaction, clarify policies, resolve significant issues, and ensure subordinate units deliver consistent guidance and training. You lead and participate in special projects and initiatives, identifying needs, establishing milestones, and preparing detailed, research‑based reports and recommendations. You analyze complex issues affecting the organization, installation, or command and determine appropriate actions, interpretations, and follow‑up to ensure mission alignment and effective resolution.

Flight Operations

Defines and implements requirements for Engineering Flight activities to ensure all services and functions align with organizational goals and mission needs. You will lead and oversee project programming, planning, energy management, design, and construction execution using asset‑management principles while directing a multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects, CADD/GeoBase technicians, programmers, and construction managers. You will apply broad engineering expertise to monitor projects, assess facility and infrastructure requirements, develop Facilities AMPs and Sub‑AMPs, and support key programs such as land management, encroachment prevention, airfield operations, and environmental and housing initiatives. You will evaluate unit performance for regulatory compliance, identify and resolve emerging issues, manage contract work, and maintain strong coordination with the Operations Flight. Additionally, you will analyze statistical and program data to track effectiveness, plan improvements, and keep senior leadership informed of progress and significant developments impacting installation or organizational plans.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Knowledge of a wide range of multidisciplinary professional engineering theories, concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment, as well as knowledge of standard construction and contracting regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the principles of planning and program management; common business and economic principles, theories, concepts, and procedures; financial management principles and standards; and of the DoD Planning, Programming, and Budgeting System (PPBS).
  • Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Skill in evaluating state‑of‑the‑art scientific and engineering technologies and incorporating into the planning, design, operation, maintenance, repair and upgrade of installation natural/built infrastructure.
  • Ability to analyze, plan, organize, and direct the work operations to meet program requirements and objectives with available resources; and to mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
