Lactalis in Buffalo, NY seeks a Supervisor/Whey Plant for the 3rd shift to ensure smooth plant operations, oversee incoming and outgoing products, and maintain equipment and sanitation standards. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork in a dairy production environment.

The candidate should have relevant technical experience, basic education, and a willingness to support continuous improvement initiatives within a leading dairy company.

Responsibilities

• Assists and manages the enhancement of technical and financial performance under the manager's direction.
• Oversees whey plant operation, production, sanitation, quality, and personnel management.
• Enforces safety rules, GMPs, policies and quality programs to ensure safe, quality food.
• Troubleshoots operational/mechanical issues to maintain efficient production flow.
• Performs preventative maintenance inspections on a regular schedule.
• Follows cleaning and sanitizing procedures for each process and line.
• Conducts pre-shift/start-up inspections.
• Monitors processes and makes adjustments for smooth operation.
• Operates forklift as needed.
• Maintains communication with operators, drivers, and other departments.
• Manages scheduling and manpower levels.

3rd shift.

Summary

Ensures the Whey Plant is operating properly and oversees control of all incoming and outgoing products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned

• 1. Assists and manages the enhancement of both the technical and financial performance of the department under the direction of the manager.
• 2. Must be able to manage the whey plant operation including overseeing and controlling all incoming and outgoing products, the proper operation and maintenance of all equipment, production output, sanitation, product specifications, quality and managing of all personal.
• 3. Responsible for the enforcement of all safety rules, GMP's, company policies and quality programs to ensure safe quality food.
• 4. Troubleshoots and resolves operational/mechanical problems in a timely basis to ensure an efficient, smooth flow of product.
• 5. Perform preventative maintenance inspections on a daily, weekly, monthly schedule to identify problems before they occur.
• 6. Follow proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures for each process and product line.
• 7. Performs pre-shift and/or start up inspection to determine the condition of each process.
• 8. Continuously monitors each process and makes necessary adjustments for a smooth continuous flow.
• 9. Operates lift truck as appropriate.
• 10. Maintains an open line of communication with operators, baggers, truck drivers, and contacts in other departments.
• 11. Completes scheduling and maintains proper levels of manpower making adjustments when necessary.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Background in fluid flow, metering of liquids and silo rotation is preferred.
• Strong computer skills as well as strong communication abilities both written and verbal required.
• Mechanical background will help the candidate be successful.

Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Dairy Science/Chemistry or dairy or other related experience preferred.
