Job summary

Lactalis USA in Buffalo, NY, is seeking a Supervisor/RSPC for the 2nd shift to manage milk receiving, inventories, production, sanitation, and product quality under the direction of the RSPC Manager. The role includes supervising staff and driving performance improvements.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes and evaluates information concerning daily operations and plant performance.

• Reviews technical problems and proposes solutions or procedural changes.
• Monitors inventories of milk, cream, starter and production materials.
• Ensures production specs align with standards and minimizes fat/protein loss.
• Reports production problems to the RSPC Manager.
• Assists planning and scheduling manpower to meet production needs.
• Works with Quality Control and Laboratory on materials, specs and sanitation.
• Assists in coordinating production activity.
• Continually evaluates staff/department performance.

2nd shift

Summary:

Assists and manages the enhancement of both technical and financial performance of the department under the direction of the RSPC Manager, including supervision of milk receiving, milk inventories, production, sanitation, production specifications, product quality and management of all personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• 1. Analyzes and evaluates information concerning daily operations and how these results positively or negatively affect plant performance.
• 2. Suggests and debates alternative methods and procedures in solving problems.
• 3. Cooperates with other management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures, and goals.
• 4. Reviews technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures.
• 5. Monitors inventories of milk, cream, starter and all other materials required for production.
• 6. Ensures that production specifications are in line with Company standards and ensures that the loss of fat and protein is minimized (and consistent with the budget). Takes corrective action immediately when necessary.
• 7. Reports production problems and/or concerns to the RSPC Manager.
• 8. Assists RSPC Manager with planning and scheduling manpower consistent with production requirements. Continuously evaluates manpower to attempt to reduce labor costs.
• 9. Works closely with Quality Control Manager and Laboratory personnel on a wide variety of areas including quality of raw materials, product specifications good manufacturing and sanitation practices.
• 10. Assists RSPC Manager in coordinating production activity.
• 11. Continually evaluates staff/department performance.

Requirements
