Job description

Primary Responsibility :

Responsible for coordinating and supervising all warehouse activities of an assigned work team on a shift basis by directing assigned Associates in the receiving, warehousing, and shipping of customer product in a manner consistent with service and cost objectives.

What You’ll Do :

1. Supervise and coordinate the most efficient unloading of inbound shipments, orderly stacking of product, and the picking and staging of outbound shipments in accordance with the highest possible levels of quality.
2. Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.
3. Responsible for cross-communication between shifts.
4. Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all materials handling equipment.
5. Ensure Associates follow all safety policies and procedures. Investigate and report all safety accidents and violations promptly. Conduct operations in accordance with OSHA and MSDS standards.
6. Maintain proper food safety practices.
7. Conduct shift meetings.
8. Plan work schedules and assign duties to maintain adequate staff for effective performance and response to fluctuating workloads.
9. Prepare and maintain work records and reports, including employee time and wages, daily receipts, and inspection results.
10. Evaluate employee performance and prepare performance appraisals.

What Experience and Education You Need :

• High School Diploma; Associates Degree preferred.
• 3+ years of supervisory or warehouse experience; or successful completion of Americold’s internship program; or a bachelor’s degree.
• Experience working in a union environment may be required.
• Tools and Technology Required: Microsoft Office Suite, calculators, desktop computers, and photocopiers.

Physical Requirements :

Must be able to perform essential functions and meet physical requirements, with reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities. Requirements include sitting for long periods, frequent interruptions, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, seeing, occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in frozen food and office environments. Overtime, evening, or weekend work may be required, along with travel.
