Job summary

Entergy in New Orleans, LA, seeks a senior leader to manage all transmission line maintenance and blanket capital activities within the transmission grid. You will provide leadership to direct reports, company and contract crews, ensuring safe work practices at all times.

You will coordinate with engineering, operations, customers and contractors, manage schedules and budgets, and oversee 24/7 response, outages, and risk assessments to keep the grid secure and reliable.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) or equivalent.
• 6+ years of transmission-related utility experience.
• Willingness to work irregular hours and respond 24/7 on a weekly rotation.
• Knowledge of transmission line construction, safety procedures and policies.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to lead across multiple disciplines and teams.

Job Summary/Purpose

This position is responsible for managing all transmission line maintenance and blanket capital activities within the transmission grid. This includes providing leadership to direct reports and company and/or contract crews ensuring they are aware of and maintain safe work practices and procedures at all times.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Responsible for maintaining the safety culture for transmission line employees and contractors and ensuring a safe work environment exists for all assigned employees and contractors.
• Manage individual contributors, supervisors, including coaching, training, employee development, and effective resource management.
• Manages contract personnel for transmission line maintenance and inspection contractors, promoting good employee relations, morale and teamwork.
• Manage engineers that develop transmission line design packages, including calculations, drawings, standards, and engineering evaluations, for capital blanket projects.
• Ensure work is performed in a team environment by interfacing with transmission engineering staff, transmission personnel, distribution personnel, generation plant personnel, major accounts representatives and other internal and external customers.
• Engages with Customers, making them aware of work plans that may impact their business.
• Works with contractors to support various business needs.
• Direct response personnel to address failures and emergency transmission outages.
• Ensure 24 hour coverage is maintained at all times.
• Direct root cause analysis and ensure the Consolidated Outage System (COS) is updated.
• Assist Asset Management in development of the annual capital and O&M work plans.
• Manage the development and implementation of project schedules and ensure they are completed on time, within budget and as designed.
• Manages the Helicopter and UAS programs for Louisiana Supports the operations teams during Major and minor storms.
• Providing leadership and guidance on resource deployment and execution strategies.
• Supports the engineering team with the development and approval of Risk Assessments.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum education required of the position BS degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil) or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum experience required of the position 6 years of transmission related utility experience required.
• Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position Available to work irregular hours and to respond 24 hours a day to system events, outages and emergencies (On a weekly rotation with peers).
• Working knowledge of transmission lines construction and maintenance standards, safety procedures & policies.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with little direction with a high level of organization.
• Strong working knowledge of basic computer programs.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, strong leadership, decision making and follow through skills.
• Ability to both lead and work in a team environment across multiple disciplines and work groups.
• Good knowledge of accounting and contract administration policy and procedures.
• This position is designated as a Safety Sensitive position and is subject to mandatory pre-employment and random drug testing.
