Job summary

Indiana Donor Network in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Supervisor, Tissue Services to lead tissue recovery operations across musculoskeletal, skin, cardiovascular and ocular tissues. You will ensure compliance with FDA, AATB and OSHA guidelines, supervise Tissue Recovery Coordinators, and oversee training, performance, and documentation.

This role requires CTBS certification, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

  • CTBS certification required; level I/II education or equivalent experience.
  • Aseptically recover musculoskeletal, skin, cardiovascular and ocular tissues per FDA/AATB/OSHA standards.
  • Ability to read and follow checklists/procedures and direct staff effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as Administrator On-Shift, providing leadership in meetings and planning.
  • Oversees new employee orientation and ongoing education programs for Tissue Services.
  • Supervises Tissue Recovery Coordinators and staff performance to maintain a motivated workforce.
  • Accurately completes post-case tasks, charting and documentation; compiles tissue recovery data for partners.

We are currently seeking a supervisor to complete our Tissue Services team.

About the Role

The Supervisor, Tissue Services is responsible for facilitating the process of tissue recovery for transplant/research of musculoskeletal, skin, cardiovascular and ocular tissues. The supervisor will ensure AATB, FDA, OSHA and Indiana Donor Network guidelines, policies, and regulations are followed. Supervises the daily activities of the Tissue Services department including skills of the Tissue Recovery Coordinators. Additional responsibilities include:

Acts as an Administrator On-Shift
  • Assists Management with oversight of the Tissue Services department and is actively involved in meetings and planning on the leadership level.
  • Oversees the department’s new employee orientation and continuing education programs.
  • Provides input to and/or supervises the selection, training, development, and performance of assigned staff to retain a motivated, productive, and professional work force for Indiana Donor Network.
  • Aseptically recovers musculoskeletal, skin, cardiovascular (including heart for valves) and ocular tissues in accordance with the FDA, AATB, OSHA standards, and Indiana Donor Network protocols.
  • Accurately and efficiently completes post-case tasks including chart completion and documentation.
  • Compiles medical/tissue recovery data from appropriate sources to provide timely and accurate information for assessment by the tissue processing partners.
Schedule

This position will work a rotating night shift schedule from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am.

Who We're Looking For

In addition to the level I and level II education and/or experience, a CTBS certification is required. Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

  • Extensive knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology and ability to recognize anatomical variations.
  • Ability to interpret lab values, Chest X-rays and CT results to recognize abnormalities.
  • Ability to read and follow checklists, procedures and provide direction to other staff.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with nurses, physicians, hospital/transplant professionals, funeral directors, Coroners, and Indiana Donor Network employees.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
