We are searching for a leader looking for an opportunity to grow and expand their leadership abilities while leading some of the best Relay and Control Techs in the industry. A career as a System Controls Supervisor with LCRA will grant you the experience of a lifetime through maintaining and increasing the reliability of the electric grid within Central Texas. You will guide and work alongside Relay technicians in the LCRA eastern district extending from Central Texas over to the Gulf Coast and extending down through the Texas Valley. Day to day operations will include Project review and estimation, maintenance planning and scheduling and customer support for both internal and external customers. LCRA System Control techs take great pride in their work and demonstrate a level of care that is not easy to come by. How You’ll Contribute
  • Provides leadership and direction for staff while maintaining awareness of department issues, responding to employee needs and concerns.
  • Hires, trains, assigns work, evaluates and leads performance, determines compensation of subordinate staff in compliance with human resources policies and handles all aspects of staff supervision.
  • Develops cost estimates, scopes of work (SOW) and coordinates with Supply Chain to onboard contractors.
  • Responsible for ensuring project coordination between other project teams (ie. Field crews and PM/CM) is timely.
  • Attends regular project scoping meetings and construction site visits to make recommendations on system, circuit, design or layout improvements to engineering.
  • Reviews for accuracy and approves all test reporting documents related to commissioning and maintenance activities.
How You’re Qualified
  • Nine or more years of experience in the construction and/or maintenance of power substation protection, SCADA, metering, monitoring and/or control systems; experience troubleshooting and repairing SCADA, telecommunications and/or protective relay problems; experience designing and developing transmission operations test and/or maintenance procedures and equipment configurations; or other relevant experience, including leadership experience.
  • A degree(s) in electrical power theory, electronics, instrumentation, controls, industrial maintenance or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
  • Driver's license

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, principles, practices, policies, tools and test equipment pertinent to assigned area
  • Skill in providing leadership, direction, training, coaching and supervision to staff
  • Skill in analyzing and solving complex problems including event records and faults
  • Skill in communicating effectively with team members, supervision / management and external organizations under normal and emergency conditions
  • Advanced level in office efficiency applications (such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.)
