Job summary

Entergy provides leadership for the engineering design activities for Substation Design, supervising staff who prepare estimates, scopes, technical drawings, specifications and requisitions, ensuring projects meet schedules, budgets and regulatory standards.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering and at least seven years of leading teams, with strong knowledge of substation design practices and project management. Hybrid options are limited to onsite locations in Entergy’s service area.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience with proven leadership capabilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of substation design practices, standards, procedures and processes;
  • Thorough understanding of design, planning, project management, operations and/or construction.
  • Experience in managing/executing capital and/or O&M projects.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multi-projects simultaneously.
  • Capable of moving frequently between multiple tasks, while prioritizing conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with superiors, colleagues and individuals inside and outside the Company.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and documentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; team player.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), budgets, financial procedures, and property accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct supervision to an engineering staff of substation designers, including coaching, training, effective resource management, providing technical guidance and quality assurance.
  • Evaluates the resource levels required for current and future workloads; Assigns company and contractor staff to accomplish effectively; Manages consultants, which includes scope preparation, bid evaluation, cost tracking, invoice approval and processing, and release order preparation.
  • Actively participates on a jurisdictional team of supervisors with other functional area supervisors to enhance communication and coordination within the project organization
  • Serves as the primary contact for the Grids, Distribution and Project Development for design evaluations, proposals and estimates for studies, customer requests, maintenance and potential projects.
  • Develops, maintains and implements substation design standards.
  • Responds to substation related regulatory and compliance issues.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Provides leadership for the engineering design activities for projects within Substation Design. The position supervises employees who prepare the estimates, project scopes, technical drawings, construction specifications, material specifications and requisitions and complete as-built documentation. The supervisor ensures that projects achieve stated objectives, are implemented in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standards, meet established schedules and are completed within approved authorizations and budgets.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
